Pin Trading

Is there pin trading on the ships?
Yes, there is. But it's not like pin trading that you might be familiar with in Epcot or at Downtown Disney where people bring their whole collections for other people to look through. Pin trading on the ship is like trading with a Cast Member in the parks. They have a lanyard or a small board with 8-10 pins each, and in my experience there are almost never "special" (limited edition/passholder/DVC) pins.

I think I want to get my daughter involved in pin trading and on the ship would be a great time to do it.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Getting your daughter into pin trading is like dooming her to be a Cleveland sports fan. You know you shouldn't; but it gets in your blood and you can't help it. And there's no end in sight, you can't quit!! Listen to the voice of experience!

Ok, I'm mostly kidding, but it can become wicked addictive. I started collecting and trading for pins for my daughter. My wife now calls my pin collection "the college fund" for my daughter. :D  :jawdrop:

If you happen to be on a sailing where they're extra concerned about viruses, they'll usually cancel the hosted pin trading events. You will still have opportunities to trade in the stores as Kelly and Chuck referenced. :)

This is what I thought at first, but it's far from reality. A bunch of the counters throughout the ship actually have books filled with pins behind them due to excessive trading. From what they told me is that they are usually attack by children and some adults when they initially come on the ship to trade and all the extras are just go into books; then the stores all open and it happens all over again on that side of the ship All you have to do is as and they'll take them out; most of the times you don't even have to trade if they have one you REALLY like.

Interesting. I've never seen that. But then, I've never asked because. . .

This.

Yep. If anyone ever asked to trade for 1 of my Mickey expression pins I'd prob'ly just laugh. I do have a BatB multi-pin box set of the stained glass picture in the movie that I've been intending to sell but I don't think there's a pin in existence I'd trade that for. For the most part I have all the pins I want. :D

When I was married my wife and I were huge pin collectors....errrr....traders... o_O

We sailed on the Wonder twice several years ago and bought a few, traded a few...but didn't really get too into it. Not like we did in the parks at least.

My girlfriend and I did a cruise on the Dream last year, and I saw the pin books and boards out at all the shops and thought it was a nice idea. Lots of duplicates of course...but the books draw a crowd. I had to explain my former pin obsession to her, and why I needed to look through every book...you know...just in case I saw a pin I "needed".
