Pin Codes?

A pin code is a specific code Disney sends out via mail or email to people who haven't visited WDW in about 5 years that allows them to get a discount on a room. It's sort of backwards Rewards program.

PIN codes are ways of tying discounts to certain people. Instead of telling everyone they can get 20% off their resort, they send codes to specific groups of people offering them that discount. No one quite knows how to get on their lists, or how they choose to send them out. For instance, some people seem to get good luck by planning a trip on the WDW website, and the not booking it. They then get discounts good for the time period they were trying to plan their trip. Other people tend to be in a targeted group. I.E. you haven't traveled for a while after making regular trips, they want you to come back and so may send you a code.

its so random who gets them... I know people who seem to get them every year, and don't use them! This is my 3rd trip in as many years and my fiance are going to start that once a year routine and we have never seen a pin code for any sort of discount.

We have been going to WDW for 15 years and we never got a PIN CODE until 3 years ago. I have had the vacation DVD/CDs sent all 15 years and starting 3 years ago I also had them sent to my DD at college. And that is when my pin codes started. I now get them in my e-mail and via snail mail in my name and her name. Other than that I cant figure out who gets them or when. Just how it as worked for me. And i have never been able to use one.

Not true about the 5 years part. I've gone every year for 21 years and some years get several and others none. But I get them. They are a marketing tool but definitely not based on the number of years since the last trip.

Agree that you don't have to wait 5 years. We were just there last March and I have received different pin codes since then every month or two by email. They usually come via Disney Destinations in my case.

And they are not just offered to people in the United States. I live up in Canada and some of the ones I get through my email look like they are geared towards Canadians (stating: "including Canadian Spring Break", for example) while others just look like everyday ones.

A couple of days ago I recieved my 1st pin code, yay! Good that I am on thier radar, but it wasn't for dates we are looking to go and the thing I found odd was that it was for less than the advertised discounts on the Disney World website for the same dates:
My PIN offer 10% off select resort hotels 5/1 - 5/31.
Website offer 20-30% off select resort hotels 4/13 - 6/14.

I was exited to get a PIN, hopefully they will send a free dining offer for sept.
