Picking up a rental car?

We are going to be renting a car for one day of our trip to drive to sea world, a mall, and a grocery store. We will be using alamo in the Dolphin. What is the easiest way to get from Pop to the dolphin early in the morning (8am) to pick up the car, then from dolphin back to pop (around 11pm).

That's tricky. Ordinarily to go from the Pop to the Dolphin, I'd say take a bus to Studios then another to the Dolphin from there, but I'm not sure you can get there by 8 AM doing that. The busses start running pretty early and maybe you could do it by then or it might have to be a bit later, like 8:30 or 9. And even then I'm not sure the bus drivers will notice people trying to LEAVE the parks first thing in the morning.

You might be able to go through the TTC.

At 11 PM you'd have to go from the Dolphin to Downtown and from there to the Pop. I'm sure you can do that at 11 PM, but it's going to be a pain and take a long time.

What about using the Car Care Center?? They have vans that will pick you up at any hotel on Disney property to take you to the Car Care Center and back. Belle

thanks belle! do you know what company is used at the car care center? We are using airmiles to rent, so it needs to be a company that is affiliated with them.

There was some talk about changing who was at the CCC last year, but I don't remember the details. Better to call Alamo and National just to make sure if you're thinking about going that route.

I just realized that Studios is so close to the Dolphin that you could walk. It's about 3/4 miles. You can also take the boat. So an early pick up at the Dolphin is more feasible than I thought. I definitely agree that keeping the car overnight is a good choice. You'll be tired after all that touring. And once you drop off the car at the Dolphin, you can go right to a park.

Another possibility to consider is Enterprise. They say that they will pick you up at the Pop and take you to their office off-site to sign the papers. There was some question about how they got on property, because normally they drive the retal car to pick you up, but I don't think that would be a problem.

Because you are doing this early in the morning, my suggestion would be to call a cab. You would have to make too many changes to get yourself over to the Dolphin. And the closest you would get is Disney's Boardwalk, then you can walk through the parkinglots. If you could save you car points and just get a car right on Disney property that would be your best bet. They will get you to the car care center, no hassels...it just may not be worth what you have to go through to save on one days car rental....

The only problem with the CCC is that they have specific rental hours. I would pick the car up at the CCC because they will send the van for you at your hotel and then drop it off that night or the next morning at the Dolphin because at the Dolphin the drop off is 24 hrs. as you drop is off with the valet parking guys. If either Epcot or MGM has extra magic hours you can easily take the boat to either one of the parks and take the bus back to Pop from there, otherwise either take a cab or the bus to DTD to get back to Pop.

Remember that they won't be using their park entitlements that day, so getting to the Pop bus without going through Epcot would be a problem. I'd stick with the morning drop off.

Also, you have to stick with Alamo to drop at the Dolphin, I think, because I don't think you can drop a National car there.

National is at the Dolphin too, I've dropped the car off there many times as well as rented from there. They said they were renting from Alamo.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought I remembered having trouble with that in 2005. Oh, well, that's one mistake I got caught on, for sure! Better be careful, only have one left allowed this year!

Call the Dolphin first and find out what rental car company they have a contract with. They change these every once in a while and it could be different from what you are being told....
