Pick A Character Breakfast

I thought any resort guests could use that entrance into EPCOT... can anyone tell us for sure?

I'm just judging by what it says under the resort descriptions on AllEarsNet. It talks about how they won't let you use the International Gateway before WS opens unless you are an Epcot Resort guest. It might be outdated info though. Have any non-Epcot guests been able to get in this entrance before WS opening? Maybe they make exceptions if you had an ADR at Cape May's or Kouzinna?

While chef mickeys gets all the hype, its way too loud and crowded. Ohanas breakfast food is ok, and the characters the same, chnces of actually getting to meet mickey 50/50. If you really want to enjoy yourself with the crowds, have great food, and character interaction, then cape may cafe is the best! Absolutely! Plus you can take a 5 minute walk to the back entrance of epcot. Truely amazing. Cape may has Minnie, goofy, chip n dale, and i think donald duck, but no mickey. It is one of the hidden gems we have found. great wait staff and are willing to take time with you and take pictures.

If Cape May doesn't have Mickey, I'm afraid it's a skip for us this trip.

I'm a little concerned when you say that we might not get to meet Mickey at the other two breakfasts. Why not? I know when we went to 1900 Park Fare we had seen all the characters except Mary Poppins by the time we had to leave. All we had to do was tell our waitress and wait a little and she came over to see us.

We actually aren't going to MK during this trip so no Crystal Palace this time. Thanks for the recommend though.

I would go with Chef Mickey's too. Don't worry about the buffet vs. family style thing. You can easily see where the characters are in the restaurant and can guage your returns to the trough so that you will be there when they approach. The food is just so-so in my opinion and I am a guy that will eat anything. But you are really going for the characters and not a gastronomical delight, so forget about that part too.

Now, if you do decide you would like to try another breakfast or if you want to have a fun dinner, I whole-heartedly sing the praises of Whispering Canyon Cafe. It is lots of fun with lots of activities. Where else can you see a Frontier-style shoot out between waiters on either end of the dining room? And the hobby horse races for the kids are a lot of fun too. The wait staff are all smarty pants and don't ask for ketchup at breakfast or a Pepsi and don't even dream of wearing anything that has Universal on it, you will be sorry!

We've actually already been to WCC and don't plan to return this trip. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I'm not really looking for anything fancy with the character breakfast in terms of food. I do want it to be edible though with a good variety. We were very very pleased with the offerings at 1900 Park Fare. If it's at all comparable to that, we will be happy.

I have only eaten at Chef Mickey's for dinner, but I have heard that the breakfast there is great!...You get to meet all of the main Disney characters too.

I have eaten at Ohana's for breakfast & we really enjoyed it...the food was great! :slurp:

But, for a 20 month old, I would probably have to choose Chef Mickey's.

We did the character breakfast at Tusker House last visit and i'm pretty sure we'll be doing it again next year. I love the food and my kids love the characters.

Of your 2 options(Chef Mickeys and O'hana)... Chef Mickey's is the easy choice here. Been to both. Not at all happy at O'hana for a number of reasons I will not list here. Chef Mickeys always great and we have never had a problem with characters leaving. If they do leave for the dancing they return to your table right after they are done. The restaurant is large and therefore we have had to wait for some characters to make it to the table after we were done eating one year but they never seemed to rush through and always interacted with the kids.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I hated the food at Chef Mickey's. Easily the worst buffet on Disney property- the food was soggy, lukewarm, and greasy. The food service area also looked dirty and was in dire need of someone to go through and clean up. There are much better buffet options available (Boma is at the top of that list).

Nick, were you there for dinner or breakfast? I know that wouldn't matter in terms of cleanliness but it might in terms of quality. I found that breakfast is a lot harder for restaurants to screw up than dinner.

On Our June/July trip we took this year we ate at the following character breakfasts: Tusker House, Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace. By far our favorite was 1900 Park Fare. Best Food and best Character interaction BY FAR. The food at Chef Mickeys was no where near the quality we had at 1900 Park Fare. In fact that that is the only place we are planning on eating breakfast at again on our next trip. Now as far as the choice between Ohana's and Chef Mickeys. I would say we enjoyed Ohana better. The food was as good and a little more exotic than the standard buffet fare you get at Chef Mickeys. Also it was a lot less crowded and hey you get a lei.

Oh, cool. You get a lei. I didn't realize that. We have eaten at 1900 Park Fare and I agree that the food selection was awesome.
