Pick A Character Breakfast

Alright. So, we want to take our DS to a character breakfast. He will be 20 months at the time. I've narrowed it down to 2. We mostly want to see Mickey. Which would you choose if you were us: Ohana or Chef Mickey's? We plan to go to one or the other either before we begin our Epcot day or on our non-park day.

Chef Mickey's has great character interaction. Felt like we had as much time as we wanted with
them. It does get a little loud, so take that into consideration when you decide. Have fun with your little one, that is the sweetest age!!

my avatar pic is Chef Mickey's!

We really didn't appreciate Chef Mickey's. Everytime the characters got close to our table they would do the song thing and away they would go. Add to that the birds flying around that got in through the monorail opening and I was just not pleased.

We are trying Ohana out for this trip. I will have to let you know how it goes!

Have you considered Cape May Cafe? I have heard great things about their Mickey interaction!

Chef Mickeys, I went there with my family and it was AWESOME. The character interaction is just great and the buffet is pretty nice too.

We had the same experience at Chef Mickey's! The characters really didn't spend all that much time with us - posed for a picture and left. So, that place has moved down our list of places to return to. We had a better experience some years back at Cape May. Goofy in particular stuck around with us for quite a while.

This is such a tough decision, isn't it? Right now I have a ADR for each but on two different days that I just made today. I will be cancelling one tonight as to not tie up a table. If we were more into breakfast, I'd keep both. It seems to me that character breakfasts are the only breakfasts worth spending DDP credits on in terms of value.

A previous poster made a good point about family style vs. buffet. Which would you prefer? It'd be nice not to have to get up. (I'm always worried about missing the characters.) However, we've had problems with the service at family-style before (WCC to be exact.). Our server did not refill our platter as quickly or as often as we would have liked. What do you think?

Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace which has Winnie the Pooh Characters.

Unfortunately, we will not be visiting MK on this trip. I have always wanted to try Crystal Palace though. Maybe next trip. At this moment, I think I am leaning toward Chef Mickey's, just because it's normally so hard to get an ADR for and I had no problem. Might not get lucky again. (I keep changing my mind though.)

I don't think the birds would really bother us so long as they aren't landing or doing anything else directly to the buffett. I would like to try Ohana, though, because we love the Poly.

I did look at Cape May Cafe but it's my understanding that we wouldn't be able to use the International Gateway afterward to get into Epcot as WS wouldn't be open and we aren't Epcot resort guests. Does anyone know if this is true?

I should also say that we loved 1900 Park Fare but want to try something different and to see the Big Cheese. If anyone is looking for a great character breakfast, I highly recommend it. Great food and fantastic character interaction.

It looks like Chef Mickey's is winning so far. I have to say, before I had my son, I never thought I'd even consider eating there. I had heard some pretty bad things about the food. However, it continues to be popular and now the idea of having that one on one attention with Mickey seems pretty awesome.

I sooooooooo know this feeling. We're going in Dec for our girls' first trip to WDW. It's this same frame of mind that has caused me to go off the deep end on character meals. I figure they're only going to be young enough for so long to really think of this like a celeb encounter - i.e. to think they really met Mickey or Cinderella - and not just some person in a costume. Both of your choices are on our list of ADRs- Chef Mickey's for dinner first night...'Ohana for breakfast the last morning.

I would say Crystal Palace. It's just classic MK and there isn't a ton of great places in MK and you will already be in the park, so why not? lol

We actually aren't going to MK during this trip so no Crystal Palace this time. Thanks for the recommend though.

Wow. I didn't know anyone could do WDW without MK. I don't think I would want to go at all. I thought that was what I read but I thought for sure I was mistaken! Either way, have lots of fun! Sorry you won't get to see the castle!

We were just at MK a few months ago. We love it but we chose to visit Epcot and AK this time instead. We would like to wait until Fantasyland is expanded before we return. Everybody has different things that they have to do at WDW. That's what makes it so interesting.

While chef mickeys gets all the hype, its way too loud and crowded. Ohanas breakfast food is ok, and the characters the same, chnces of actually getting to meet mickey 50/50. If you really want to enjoy yourself with the crowds, have great food, and character interaction, then cape may cafe is the best! Absolutely! Plus you can take a 5 minute walk to the back entrance of epcot. Truely amazing. Cape may has Minnie, goofy, chip n dale, and i think donald duck, but no mickey. It is one of the hidden gems we have found. great wait staff and are willing to take time with you and take pictures.
