just what MK needs....more stroller parking. Ugh. Take away another little thing that makes MK special and add nothing. However, this does encourage 10 yr olds to continue using strollers.

That absolutely stinks. My son loved these things, granted we would spend half our money looking for one that worked, but for the most part he was entertained for 20 minutes with this thing. Was one of the great ways to wait for our fast pass time to come. Not to mention, had no problem parking the stroller along the ramp!

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The cheap, carnival-like boats didn't make MK any more "special". They were ugly, and broken half the time.

Give me some nice, open, better looking space any time.

Could this be preliminary work to do with the jungle cruise being extended into this area and going around the treehouse? There was mention in another thread of a survey being done in the area about what guests would like to see done to the cruise and the regular rumors about pirate expansion into the cruise area. I can't tell for sure from google earth if the waterways intersect or if they are just close???? I never tried the boats, didn't know they were there.

Yeah, but when they worked, my kids loved them.

The waterways do not intersect, however, they could easily be made to. There is very little land separating them. It would be expensive, but very possible to have the JC boats go around the treehouse area.

Pirates wouldn't expand into the Jungle Cruise area.

I remember RC boats somewhere else in the park when I was kid in the 80's, and I absolutely loved them. While I agree that it's an easy thing to keep fixed (which they should've), I don't think it should be made into another parking lot for obese persons hoverrounds or like others have said, those strollers for people's lazy 5-10 year olds to park. Hoverrounds (or JAZZIES as I like to call them) and strollers have become the biggest downfall to all Disney parks.

Mandate: kids over 4 years old with no physical issues to walk.
Mandate: people over 300 lbs with no physical issues (other than being lazy WALL-E people) to walk.

Problem (at least half of it) solved. It would save Disney in the long run too, they wouldn't have to modify their rides because of rider size. ha.

Probably making way for themed FP+ poles. I see a new bench there though, go figure. I always enjoyed watching kids control their own JC boat. Oh well...

Please someone tell me this is for expansion of JC...

EDIT - PS- Where can I buy one of the RC boats? :)

I'm with you. If TDO kept them up and running then I might disagree, but they were in horrible shape and broke all the time.

That is it! I am tired of watching WDW's unique past stripped away layer by layer! I'm never going back!

Kidding.

However, I did enjoy the look of the area. The miniatures were, at the very least, kind of neat to look at for a few minutes. It just looks sort of plain now, but I assume that is the intent.

Thanks for the laugh and saying exactly what I was thinking! I remember how great the RC boats were at The Disneyland Hotel in the 80's and was totally psyched when the Jungle Cruise finally got them. It's incredible, though, that they weren't properly maintained even though people were paying to use them. GO Team TDO! :)

I have two nine year olds that stopped using the stroller at 2 and a 2.5 year old that barely used the stroller a year and a half.

Can one of our experts please put this Jungle Cruise expansion rumor to rest?

It just seems impractical and pointless.

In order to expand JC around the treehouse, they'd have to widen the "Ned" canal to get 2-way boat traffic thru it.

Then they'd have to tear out (and rebuild elsewhere) much of the JC maintenance/boat storage area in order to make the turn from Chief Namee wide enough to navigate.

Then they'd have to raise and widen the bridges around the treehouse to allow the large JC boats to pass underneath (which will still expose JC passengers to pennies, popcorn, and Dole Whips being thrown on them)

With the JC boat's overhead canopy, passengers would only be able to see the steep berm "walls" on either side of the canal.

The biggest problem, though, would be the boat's return to the dock. I can't picture them being able to make a right hand turn wide enough to navigate. But even if they could, the "Ned" area is where boats would stack up while waiting to unload. Currently they're hidden behind the Chief Namee corner. That would be bad show for the passengers and the people on the shore (not to mention the noise pollution of the skipper on the PA telling jokes while waiting to approach unload.)

The expansion rumor makes absolutely no sense.

But that space wont be nice and open when it's a sea of strollers.
