I know it's needed for the Holidays, but ewwwwww... It just looks so wrong to see something "real" leak in.

It will be gone in the afternoon, right, Steve?

I know its gotta be done, but if I was there and the crane was visible during my last day, I think I would be upset. My photopass pics wouldn't look too nice. haha

Anyone know when they are expecting to be done with the light installs?

They've pretty much gotten the install down to 1 week.

The first year it was a mutli-week thing as they were also installing permanent outlets for power distribution and control cables. Then the second year was less, but by now they've got it down to a science. :)

How do they get the crane behind the castle? Where is the access road, I can't picture where it could even get in there.

Last year, I believe, we determined the lights went up really early because the crane was already somewhere in the park for some other work, so they just put them up then... But now I'm wondering if that didn't have anything to do with it.

Why are they going up so early?? Especially if they've got the install down to a routine?

There is refurb work going on at the castle in a few week times, so they need to be done with this before that begins.

Through Toontown.

Actually, I think it probably came in from the backstage access between Small World and the old Skyway station (and backstage the alley passes between Small World and Mansion).

Coming in from the Toontown gate, it would have to be navigate either up the pathway by the wishing well (which doesn't appear possible) or around past Pooh. While that route is certainly possible, there are more planters and islands along the way to navigate around. Backing in from near Small World is virtually a straight shot with nothing to navigate around.

The crane was up day and night last week. I don't quite understand - If it only takes a week to put the lights up, why do it in August? Why not wait until November? That way, the castle only looks like crap in the daytime for a 2 months instead of 5?

Well, they may be hanging them now to check the bulbs. LED or not they do burn out. Additionally, its entirely possible the idea has been expanded this year, and they may be needing the time to program new sequences...maybe even incorporate them more into fireworks shows...

The effect on the castle in daylight once its put up is very minimal, most guests dont evev notice.

Steve, would it involve painting? I think I saw a darker portion of the castle, but I thought it was my bad eyesight or just a shadow.

Would make sense with what you just said...
I wonder how long until they build a castle with lights built right in?

I was just thinking of that... They should do that anyway...:lookaroun
