Sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere and I've missed it but what time do the new bag check stations open at TTC now?
I have not seen any official listings, but I would guess alongside the start of operations for the first of the transportation options from the TTC.

Yes, but many bad guys are really stupid. They tend to get stopped before they do as much damage, but we don't need to make it easier for them. I agree with you that some bad actors are smart enough to not be bothered by security theater, but they are in the minority.

Its the stupid ones basic security measures stop cold.

While in the parks ive been asked by an earbud wearing member of the unseen security force whats clipped to my pocket and then i pull out my streamlight 2L flashlight. The clip is large and similar to a knife clip so i feel pretty good about Disney's 'invisible' security watching for small details which is REAL security which does make everyone safer

Eventually we will all need a background check to get in here. I've held a US secret clearance so I should be fine. :)
For $1,299.00 (park admission required) Disney can upgrade that to a Top Secret clearance... ;)

Seriously, though, I see lots of improvement to the guest screening process, but who's screening the tens of thousands of potentially disgruntled employees/contractors who everyone seems to trust implicitly...?

Probably nobody...

Doesn't really matter where you park. If you're parked at Epcot and want to travel to MK, when you arrive at the TTC via monorail, you can't walk directly across to the express loop anyway. You have to walk down and go up the ramp for the express loop. With security in place, that means going through security before boarding the express loop.
All monorail entrances are behind security. The place a monorail is not behind security is the end of the exit ramp at Epcot.

But you have the US media sensationalizing every firearms incident so to a foreign tourist it seems likely that a gunfight is likely to occur at any moment due to the media hyping man bites dog stories

True the media is all spin really though. As a tourist you would think we live in a war zone when in reality your less likely to run into an issue than say in Birmingham.

This security setup is much better but it does not mitigate the risk of cast members or rogue attacks on the backstage entrances themselves.

I remember someone on these boards some time ago once saying that they will have metal detectors and will check backs.
And I remember SO many people attacking that person saying that Disney would never do that because it will slow down people getting into the parks.

Looks like that person was right...

I wasn't making any commentary on the pros or cons of security. I was merely pointing out possible reasons someone might have for parking at TTC to go to Epcot as the person I quoted stated they had no idea why someone would do that.
