Yes, but many bad guys are really stupid. They tend to get stopped before they do as much damage, but we don't need to make it easier for them. I agree with you that some bad actors are smart enough to not be bothered by security theater, but they are in the minority.
Not a lot of thought is required to carry out a Nice style attack. While these changes get applauded as helping, none of the parks have done anything to address recent, highly publicized attacks. If anything, this creates a new target for a vehicle-based attack.

Wow - that sure eats some Security CM hours!

i was thinking that too

this seems like it will cost way more in hours, as many of these stations can only go so low regardless of the guests coming through, and this plan probably requires more managers too

Yes it does, that's the problem with how US security models work they create immense vulnerabilities outside of the presumed target forgetting that the bad actors are looking to create mass casualty incidents. Like Nice and the German Christmas market attack.

TLDR.. anyone ask if they would ever move the entrance show back to the train station? that was one of the best rope drops in the world, and it was moved for more $$ Main Street time, and to alleviate the crowds pooling around the massive security crowds and allow people to get through.. why not do the welcome show at the train 15 min before the rest of the park opens etc?

... or move the welcome show back to the train station but continue to open the gates early to allow guests on to main street. If anyone wants to stay in front of the station to watch the welcome show, they can.

I'm ok with anything that is better than the current iteration.. the train show was one of those pure Disney moments.. you see the characters you came for welcoming you into their park.. then you go through the station and you see dat castle.. now that the security logjam is gone, I long for that to be brought back

that is true.. it was on my MUST do list for any person I knew going to the park for the first time.. It's truly one of those things that separates WDW from say Kings Island, or Six Flags.. the current welcome show feels more stage-y with a nice backdrop, instead of the genuine welcoming feeling the train show had.. I never saw another show that would light people up with smiles and even tears knowing they were about to enter the most magical place on earth.. now it's just.. here herd down this street until this song says you can go forth to other parts of the park. I rarely stop to watch shows these days because the quality at most parks has diminished to cirque du soleil wannabes, magicians that are no better than street performers, or cover bands... Disney has an immense IP catalog, and great costumes/choreography.. and with those their shows are/have always been head and shoulders above the others..

Getting rid of one of those classics instead of maybe changing it up with a new song etc is the wrong direction. I hope moving security allows that show to return in some iteration.. I got snapchats from a friend last June of his wife crying during it because she never thought she'd get to the park and couldn't contain the feelings she had watching that little 5 minute show. I still contend, a minute for minute comparison is overall, the most emotion driving show Disney has created at WDW and they dropped it

...or move the welcome show to the TTC where lots of folks will be standing in the security check lanes...

That's not bad for morning entry. I'll be checking out the new security implementation myself this afternoon.
Good luck. There was a modest back up at the auto plaza but security at the TTC didn't take long at all. Monorail wait was slightly longer than expected due to only two trains running. No wait at main entrance touch points.
