Last year was my first MNSSHP, and we LOVED it. Very fun, great parade, great fireworks and we left with a boatload of candy. We loved the HM that night with the cast members going in all our character mode. Overall great experience. I do enjoy seeing the normal characters uniquely dressed for the party, BUT i will say instead of only getting the villains out front of the castle in a frenzy, that was bad. Besides that, they should also have villain locations spread out in park. Star Wars weekends do that with unique characters in set locations. Thats how it should be. We got a picture with Malifecent which was great, but then the lines for everyone after her were pretty big.

I will also say, although it was a great experience, I find it weird that all the other Disneyland Locations in the world do these cool additions to rides but WDW doesn't. That i do not get. With how expensive the parties are anymore, they do need a little more to offer.

That being said, we are going again this year in 3 weeks! And we are going to the party and we will have fun regardless
I think you kind of answered why WDW doesn't do ride overlays within your post

Yes, please look for me, I'll be with my lil 18 month old girl ( it's never too early to get them started lol ) and I'm not that hard to spot. My facebook link is in my profile page. Hope to see you there!!! :)
We'll be there that night also. My daughter's picture is in the thread captainjackandthe pirates... She will be the Cheshire Cat this time. Just look for a purple and pink tail :).

another grind for TDO...

And I would just like to say that I would absolutely freak if they did "haunted river expeditions" on the riverboat with that Grim Reaper floating in the Rivers of America...that thing is ridiculous! Add that fog and some slight motion and it would be absolutely insane to see!
Yeah.
They haven't used that "wraith" for a few years now. But it looks super cool "towing" the Mark Twain around the river. Especially since they heavily decorate all of the town of Thunder Mesa.

I always thought it was meant to be Charon.

I would think this would be the perfect attraction for an overlay. Some of the less popular attractions should certainly lend themselves to this instead of the marquee attractions.

Wow....we bought tickets already, but after looking at the map...I'm surprised about the number of closed attractions....most notably the jungle cruise.....what better time to ride it then on a spooky night!

I guess we will have to enter at 4 (I think that's allowed) to catch the attractions that will be closing at normal park hours...
Jungle Cruise was not running last year during MNSSHP. We bounced off it, faked out by the treat give away that was going on in front of the queue.

Hi,

Long time viewer, first time poster.

Going to the World in 30 days with DW and DD4 for our first ever trip. I have a question about the MNSSHP which hopefully you experts can help answer. I took a look at the lineup of activities for the party along with tips I've read on these message boards and what I have come up with is the following:

Line up to meet 7 Dwarfs around 6:30 or else the line will be super long
Villains Dance Mix & Mingle 7:45
Find a good spot early for the parade
Boo to you parade 8:15
Character parties at two locations
Hallowishes at 9:30
Treat locations & Treat Trails
After Dark nightfall rides
Meet & Greets with Villains

From all of you who have attended the party before (with young child), were you able to fit everything in or did you find yourself having to pick and choose which item(s) you were able to do? ie. skip the character dance party and go to the meet & greets etc.

I realize there are late night parades etc, but with a four year old I'd rather not stay out past her ("my") bedtime. :D

Loved how the Pumpkin Mickey Heads on the wreaths are fully light up this year instead of just the eyes, nose and mouth. AND the lighting this year seemed to be sooo much better than last year! It seemed darker! Last year it was waay to bright!

The pre parade lame! Surely they could have come up with a better idea than that!

Of course the parade, Mix and Mingle, and Fireworks were the same old stuff.... One big issue I have with the parade, and this has been the same for the past few years, Christmas included, is the aerial music volume seems Waay to low! The float speakers are loud though. And for some reason the BGM mixes in with start of the parade music... Hate that!

Yes you should be able to do all of that. The second parade is considerably less busy than the first though, so I would recommend viewing that one.

We've always left the Treat Trails for the last 30-45 mins of the night. They're less crowded and they give out much more candy since they have to get rid of all of what was allotted for the evening.
