It looks like it is going to be connected to Pop Century...
Will the Art of Animation resort be a "sister resort" to Pop Century? Kind of like how all of the All-Star Resorts are connected.

That pathway bridge is left over from the original construction of Pop Century. I don't have any info on what will happen with that.

Glad to see some work is getting done!
I cannot wait for The Lion King area although it appears to be the smallest.
I don't like how Disney is opening the Art of Animation by phases. (Just like Fantasyland Expansion)
Maybe they will remove the entire decades theme to the Pop Century and make it themed to Animation as well, so that when they are linked there is a correlation, but I doubt TDO would want to do that.

This is nothing new. All of the All-Star Resorts opened in phases as did most of the moderates. Pop Century was originally scheduled to open in phases too.

Exacty. Hotel rooms that are ready for guests and sitting empty are wasting money (and probably costing the company money in taxes, too).

If they can get a good chunk of the resort open, and then complete the other parts in phases, it's best for the bottom line.

Saratoga Springs also opened in phases, as I believe did the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Contemporary (Tower and then Garden Wings).

There really is a lot of exciting construction going on right now. I think opening a new value resort during the same time frame as the Fantasyland expansion makes a lot of sense.

I remember I was at Pop Century during Christmas Art of Animation Resort has come on so much since then. Looks and sounds like it is going to be a nice resort :D. I also wonder that question about the bridge though will they connect the two hotels or what :veryconfu

Not that I have any inside info on this, but my guess is that the bridge is staying. Notice in the pics there is a construction wall only at the AoA end of the bridge, still alowing guest access in the meantime. I believe if "Generation Gap Bridge" was going anywhere, that construction wall would be at the Pop end, and demo would have already started. Name and or theme may or may not be changed, but i think the structure stays, and remains functional and available for guest traffic.

Yep I think you are probably right - it would make sense.

I don't see them segregating the resorts by taking down what is probably a very expensive bridge. Aside from that they are pretty much both treated like second class citizens anyway ;) if you believe the thread about now awning over the bust stops... I wonder if this one will have an awning!

Along with the internal hallways, one would expect to see spaces below the windows for air conditioning units. I don't see any in these photos. Are they going to use central air units on the roofs?

Art Of Animation will most certainly be the most popular of the Disney Budget Resorts. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that Pop will be converted to this theme as well after AoA is completed.
