Hey everyone!

I know this might be a little off topic for the WDW board, but Elissa and I have just finished the update from our recent Japan trip. This ended up being a MASSIVE undertaking as the final result is more than 100 pages of photos, videos, trip reports, and travel guides from 18 of Japan's finest (and in a few cases not so finest) theme parks!

Most importantly (at least for this group I'm sure) is about 12 pages of photos from Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. We point out a lot of the differences and similarities between WDW/DL and the Tokyo Parks. It's all VERY interesting how some of the park looks EXACTLY like Disneyland (Pirates area), and other parks look EXACTLY like WDW's Magic Kingdom! It really is like the best of both parks in one.

We also put together a video for the Tokyo Disney Resort which highlights most of the attractions, including Journey to the Center of the Earth, which any Test Track fans might find interesting! =)

Anyway, here is the direct link to the update if you are interested:

Thanks again to everyone for checking it out! --Robb

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I would love to go someday.

Two quick things. The first is that glass roof over the Main Street area was a little strange. The other is the pavement in all of the shots looks like it is perfect and new. So much so it looked fake. Was it just plain asphalt?

Thanks for all the pics, its really cool to see the similarities between the Japan parks andthe US parks. I agree with your comments the theming is incredible at the parks in Japan, especially at Disney Seas. Someone once told me that the imagineers were able to invest much more time and money into theming the Japan parks because Disney does not technically own the parks. Can anyone comment on the vilidity of this comment?

Thanks

Thats correct, since the funding is done by the Oriental Land Company, the imagineers don't have to worry as much about budget constraints.

I just tried to sign up for the westcoaster boards! I didn't get the email notification thing so I'll stick here. Anyway, I love your site and those translations are hilarious. "Pleasure is boan here. This is unusual!" I'm planning on buying the Japan DVD.

Keep up the good work!

Wow! Glad you guys all liked the pics! :) Japan was an amazing place and it exceeded all of our expectations. It was also a lot cheaper than we were expecting. Our 4-day park hopper was only about $175, and the Hilton was about on par with a WDW Deluxe hotel. So if you're ever thinking about doing a "Disney" trip there, you can probably do 5 days about the same as if you were going to WDW.

We just got back from WDW yesterday, and doing both resorts within two weeks of each other made me really appreciate both. Of course it also made me realize how much the DLR resort is missing out on. =(

It's really a hard call on if we like TDR or WDW better. TDL has the most amazing Magic Kingdom of them all (we even liked it better than DLP!), and even though DisneySea is an amazing park, they really NEED Tower and the coaster to open as there isn't that much to do there.

I don't even think we can decide. We know we like both TDL and WDW better than the DLP and DLR resorts, that's for sure!

Anyway, thanks again everyone. Glad you liked the update!

Those are excellent pictures and the captions really add to it. I will visit each park before I die. I hope I can get them done in the next 10 years and then do them over and over after that. Thanks for giving us the pictures. They are really excellent in quality. Keep up the good work and WELCOME!

Robb, very cool pics, thanks for sharing.
Did you find the language difference to be a barrrier on rides? I still am bemused that they don't have any type of translater system...
Also, what was the range on the price for the airfare?
Is there a better time to go to get better prices on air?

I think to afford to go, I would have to skip my yearly trip to DLR or WDW and save money. I don't know if I am willing (or able) to go more than a year without my Disney fix.

I was going to ask the same question. Did you know any Japanese before going? Did a different language hinder anything, or are there some people who can speak English? I've always wanted to go to TDL and DLP, but the language barrier has made it a tough decision.

And....DLP and WDW back to back? Did you win the lottery or something?
