The reason I suggested a garage where I did (lots A and Q) is because they are so far off to the ends that they will not detract from the visual of DTD from the front. Lot Q would be the more likely spot for a grage since it is down around and sort of behind Cirque. They could make a 5 story tall garage there and actually theme is just right on the outside to keep it from being a plain eye sore in the DTD skyline.

Agreed and they could theme it quite nicely and have it blend in with the DQ and Cirque structures without seeming too out of the ordinary.

Here is what I would do. Build this as a large garage and force employees to park there. If employees working on the other side of DTD found that too far to walk then they would need a satellite lot near casting with a shuttle service to the Marketplace. This would open up many spaces in the regular lots. Second, I would make some of the floors dedicated to secure, well lighted covered parking with wide spaces for a fee. I would also use the garage for drop-off valet parking, again for a fee.

I thought DTD employees park across the street behind the Hess petrol station.

They do, although I think they have used the far lot beyond Cirque, but don't quote me on that. I actually have pretty hard time on a regular basis finding a spot in a lot that I don't mind walking from, and I'm guessing that is the majority of guests as well. I would be surprised if anyone really knows that back lot exists unless they accidentally go in that entrance or are forced back there by lack of parking in the rest of the lots.

They do and I think some also park across from the MarketPlace bus station behind the bushes in a carpark.

So JT is going to force staff to park nearer to work. Sounds like a good plan to fill up some of those parking garages after spending millions building them.

Don't hold your breath for a parking garage....just sayin'. Whatever is going on does not have anything to do with parking concerns. DTD has always had third party vendors. And as someone else said - during PI's heyday - parking would get tight, but thats part of the incentive to get people there early and not just stroll in and out. There's no payback for Disney to spend the money to construct a parking garage for an area of property that is essentially free.

Yes
They just opened "Apricot Lane" on the former PI and now they are starting to add water features and LED lighting. So......that is something.

Apricot Lane replaced HD after it moved to west side, which could have been done without the closing of PI, so again I point out, there has been 0 progress on PI since it closed. It could still be open generating profit(had they not torn down 2 buildings of course) They have not replaced the clubs with anything other than, you guessed it, seed and mulch

As usual I am at last three steps ahead. As I stated this would be the first step of a process to build out DTD to the full potential it has. I would also add charging stations for employess with electric cars to use for free in the new garage.

One of the other benefits that a garage by Cirque would provide would be a covered path into the Cirque building so that patrons would know that they would not need to deal with bad weather. Again, this is just a first step of a much broader approach I would take if I were them.

This could also be part of a resort transportation system but that is better discussed in the Imagineering thread which I might do some day.

There are more times than that when parking becomes tight. Usually pretty busy when golf comes to town in October.

But, yes, for the most part parking is never a problem. Especially down by the West Side. The lot past Cirque is always very empty.

That was my general point. I have never visited (and people here think I visit too much:rolleyes:) DD and ever found it where you couldn't find parking down near the Cirque Theater. Everyone wants to park near WoD or Raglan Road/T-Rex.

I think the 'parking problem' speaks more to poor development over the past 15 years than it does a real issue with 'guess we'll have to go to Super Walmart instead 'cause there ain't no place to park the truck!':ROFLOL:

Don't think we didn't notice what you just did there.
