I had seen somewhere it was a 1/100 chance of getting the black pearl. Which would sound about right to me size wise (going off the size of the rum barrel on my shelf) for a case of a single outer shipper carton with poly bagged plastic mugs inside. 144 just seems like it might be a little unwieldy to me.

And the rum flight had caught my eye, simply because it specified "TS Grog Grotto". Can't say for certain if any of the others do (haven't see any such markings), but I haven't looked at pics since soft opening.
I know the pearl does but I think the Mai Tai glass has Grog Grotto on it as well.

I've only seen the one side of the pearl that says "Trader Sams". Does the other say "Grog Grotto"?
You might be right. It thought I saw it on the bottom. The Mai Tai glass does though:

Oh yeah, thats why I mentioned 144. But I'm used to seeing stuff that ships by the gross either be smaller, or be stackable. I can't see anyway the pearls are stackable, so they end up ocuppying a ton of space, even if no inner boxes or bubble like the mugs have, just poly bagged. Just seemed in my head to be a bit larger of a carton than I usually see as it would be approaching the unwieldy size.

They might ship in 1/2 gross containers, But I'm thinking what a pain to pack as you cannot easily use automation with one black pearl per container of any size.

Are the letters still stuck on? I've been hearing that they've fallen off on some mugs.
Just says Trader Sam's, but since not available elsewhere ...

Only "Grog Grotto" are mai tai and rum shot glasses (both sold out).
I kinda expect our mugs to go to Disneyland Sam's and visa versa. They've needed a unique mai tai mug for ages.

This was at 11 last night. Place was getting sparse.View attachment 88986

Ouch. Although I'd think it might need some promotion before it becomes popular, especially with the poly still mostly torn up. I can see alot of people who might go over for a drink/fireworks from beach skipping it now since it's chaos. Not to mention I want the mugs darn it, not just the drinks.

The place is nice, but it was overhyped. The bartenders need to work on their service, however, and cut the act. It gets annoying very fast. The outdoor patio is nice. I can see myself being out there quite a bit.

Not meant to be an all night kind of place.

I think I've said before, but the indoor bar will be very polarizing. The outdoor patio, tho, is a slam dunk and should be a hit with everyone. I think they should replicate it ASAP, with appropriate theme, at all the lakeside resorts.

MK was open until 1am last night, Epcot had EMH until 11. Could explain the lack of crowds to a degree. Also I wouldn't expect it to have many non-Poly guests fill the place that late, getting back to a non MK area resort seems like more trouble than it's worth.

What a wonderful idea, nice place to relax, near the water.

I'd temper the enthusiasm. In order to get anything else like this, or heck, even just more unique experiences/merch, WDW will need to see this being a success. I'm sure they have some metric they are expecting the grotto to hit (probably derived from the version in Cali) and if it doesn't hit those numbers, it's deemed a failure and there is no motivation to push for unique drink offerings at resort locations. I'd rather see it regularly packed, maybe a 10-20 minute wait during prime times, than sitting empty like that picture.
