The photos so far are really pretty but I dislike how they changed it so drastically. Pink is my favorite color but this reminds me of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Anaheim a lot. We can't judge anything until it's done and we see it in person but I'm not totally into it so far. Will they be painting it back to the original color scheme after the 50th?

I’m still hoping the spires are darkened and that the pink is lightened (the concept art implies the main body will have a sheen to it), but you’d think if they were going to we would’ve started to see it by now.

Second, what did we do to deserve this? Kim Irvine’s tasteless scourge has traveled across the country. Why? Who woke up one morning and thought “Cinderella’s Castle is a problem?” Why couldn’t we leave that icon as it was? I know “it’s not a museum” but this is not an improvement. This is change for the sake of change. In fact, this sucks.

Why?
She’s the daughter of WDI legends and helped create WDW, yet her more recent projects have included weird castle paint jobs.

However, I will give her credit, she saved Disneyland’s IASW from almost being an IP disaster. When corporate decided to smash characters throughout the ride, she’s responsible for carefully matching them to the Mary Blair style.

That doesn’t change the castle paint jobs, though. Oof. Sleeping Beauty castle at Disneyland actually looks more plastic than ever before. We don’t need to wait to see how Cinderella Castle will turn out. We already have an example.

—or anyone who’s studied color theory and appreciates how Disney used to value art direction above the Studio’s marketing need to make all the castles DisneyPark Pink. ;)
keyword is "used to". Every direction Disney takes nowadays is very different from the past, so are we still dwelling in the past to somehow change the present?

I hated the art direction of the Birthday Cake castle or the opening of Stitch's Great Escape where they vandalized the castle with toilet paper. How far past in terms of art direction would you prefer?

The castle looks almost perfect in that Stitch photo. Minus the toilet paper and Stitch graffiti, of course. The color is ideal.

I agree that the birthday cake castle was awful.

To those who are ragging on it, what would you do if you were in charge of repainting the castle for the 50th? I get the feeling that some would just not do anything.

So does this mean Tokyo Disneyland has the prettiest castle now? They also have the best Disney park.
In my opinion, Tokyo has had the prettiest castle for a while.

Though Disneyland Paris' is absolutely nothing to sneeze at - for sure, THAT'S how you do a pink castle. Not to mention all of its exciting features - the design of the interior, the upstairs walkthrough, the stained glass, the outer balcony, the Christmas shop, the Merlin shop, the Dragon in the dungeon . . .

Well, first I'd keep the iconic blue turret shingles. So, now we need a rock work that would complement the blue.

Rose ain't it. Nor purple.

The plain very light tan was functional, but not very decorative.

I'd go with a white quartz rock (faux finish). It's mostly white, but has enough darker flecks to not be too bright white. It also has flecks of shiny quartz for a nice sparkle in the bright sun.

But, who's ever heard of such a thing?

I think it looks great! I feel it adds to it. This is a permanent change or just temporary? Either way I'm happy with either.

Then again I liked the castle cake for what it was at the time(because I knew it was temporary).
