I just got an email from a friend who was just at WDW with a link of photos. It's the new Disney Photopass. I like this idea, but how does it really work? I was told you get a photo taken and then you are given a credit card thingy and when you see a photo person, who is everywhere now, you give them your card and they swip it and then take photos for you. The card has a code and when you get home or even at Disney you enter the code and there are your photos to view for 30 days. Is this just for WDW or is it a Disneyland too? Is it free for the 50th Annv. and then there is a charge after that? Has anyone else used or seen Disney Photopass?

I think this is for just WDW. I also think that you have to get a PhotoPass certificate , and that allows you to get a photopass, but I may be wrong. I haven't used the photopass yet. Anyone else know about this?

They give you a credit card sized card that is scanned by each disney photographer. You can use the one card for your entire trip, no more pieces of paper to hang on to.
Photopass is free, unless you decide to buy a picture of course.

You can look at pics for 3 days and only in the park you had the pics taken. But you can also view the pics online when you get home for 2 or 3 months. They can be bought in the parks or online, your choice.

I used to save all those little papers and put them in my scrapbooks... I will miss them. But this photopass thing sounds fun. My aunt used it and she said you can add little things into the pictures. Sounds fun :)

I read about this Photpass in the Mickey Monitor. I also received my credit card type card for use on a trip... I like this idea.. Especially that I can look up my pictures online... One question I have though: Can you use these pictures online as your wallpaper for your desktop?

I Just got back from WDW on tuesday. after reading this I dug into my pocket to find a "Photopass"! so I went to the WDW webpage and searched for photopass and i ended up finding a website it is www.DisneyPhotoPass.com you have a code on the back of the card that you enter in and Voiala there are the pictures the guy took of us. thank God too because now my friend can stop complaining that he wanted to buy the other two, because you can order prints online and add captions, borders, and crop the image.

Oh and one more thing.
They have added professionally taken pictures of all of there parks for you to buy too.

So if you order prints online, do they print them and mail them to you then? (As opposed to printing them yourself which would (a) require a photo printer and (b) kinda stink since they'd only be 72dpi for the web.)

Definately takes some of the high pressure sales part off of buying them though. If you have time to think about it and time to replenish the funds after spending too much money at Disney, you might be more inclined to buy some.

Can the photos be of anything or are they of just your family/group. From the website that Laufschneller65 gave us it sounds like your family/group but from other peoples replies it sounded like a photo of anything. Just wonderin

When you buy the photos online they mail you very high quality 5x7 prints. Online the resolution is very poor and even at 3.5x5 the printout you would make from them is blocky. It is not designed for you to print them yourself at home, since Disney doesn't get your money that way!!

Mostly the photographers will take pics of you and/or your group, but I guess you could convince them to snap a shot of the castle or whatever without you in it. But why wouldn't you just take a pic with your own camera so you don't have to pay them for the print? Either that or just buy a postcard.

Hey! PhotoPass is really awesome I think. A guy just stopped us in front of the tree of life and told us to pose and he took three pictures of us. In one, he told us to hold out our hands and there'd be a surprise in them later. Baby simba lol. It was a really cute idea and I love this. We got our pictures taken at AK twice with that. I came online when I got home to view them. I love this idea

I hppe this works:

I think that the photo pass is the best idea ever!! Then you can just wait till you go home to get the photo. If you left and wished you did get the photo you can always go on line and buy it!!
This is the best idea ever!!
I did save the papers to, my scrap book will miss them also!!!

also, there is no photopass on rides yet. So if you want to buy that picture, do it right away.

That's a real shame. That's probably the one i'd decided to buy when i get home more than any other.

Photopass has been very successful so far from what I've heard. They will probably expand it to include ride photos at some point. As far as I know, this is a permenant thing not here just for the 50th celebration.

I have been to WDW twice this year and gotten the photopass each time. I have to say that my husband takes better pictures. We went in January and had the photographers take at least 20 different pics of the family but when we got home they really weren't that great.

When you order the pics online they charge you $13 per 5 x 7 (unless you order multiples of the same pose) and that does not include shipping fees. I did like that you can add the borders or character signatures to the photos.

I still have to say if at all possible have someone in your group take some pics with your own camera. The photographer just randomly took pics of my kids and really wasn't trying to get their attention, so in most of the shots they are not even looking at the camera.

This is a great idea. I just hope Disney can find some photographers who know how to get everyone looking the same direction or at least give some warning when the shot is going to be taken.

I had a different experience. One photgrapher told my son to hold his hand out for a 2cnd picture and he would get a suprise when we got home. When we viewed the picture there was Tink on his palm. Other photographers made sure we were alllooking at the camera and smiling, even trying to make us laugh. I guess it depends on who you get.
