PhotoPass Question

Does anyone know how much the CD is to purchase? Is this a good deal? Are there ever any "specials"? Can they be pre-ordered? I'm trying to decide if this is a good investment or not. Thanks for the help.

I think it is a great deal if you are going with a big group. Get more than one card(record the card number just in case you misplace it). If your group splits up they can get photos taken all day. At the end of the trip have the cards merged into one. Big tip, to make it worth the money, get as many pictures as possible. Do alot of character spot meet and greets where the photo pass photographers are at.

Add all the borders and embellishments online to the photos before you order the CD.

I personally think it is a great deal and a wonderful keepsake! I have like 300 pics on mine - all personalized with frames and autographs! I am definitely getting it again!! :sohappy:

We took 2 trips last year. The first trip we did only 2 or 3 photopass photos. They were so great we took advantage of the photopass CMs as much as possible the next trip and bought our CD with over 100 photos gladly!

You just have to be sure to utilize the photopass as much as possible, that's what makes it worth the $$$.

Plus they capture some moments that you just don't have time to whip out your camera for - like my DS challenging Captain Hook to a duel! I had no idea he was going to do that and I am so thankful for the photopass person for capturing that moment!

Loved it too!

This is so worth the cost! We not only combined our family of 8's pics from the parks, but we did the private photo session. The photographer did a great job and to have professional pictures taken and the rights released for under $150 is a steal! I was able to photoshop and used the pics to my hearts content :)

I have and haven't done it on trips. We have trips where there are sometimes 15 - 20 of us. It's great for those. Then I have trips where it's just my daughter, mom and I. I usually don't do it then. However, for this upcoming trip, I ordered it. I will determine if I am using it after the trip - see how many pictures are done and look good. If I am not happy with the picts for some reason, I will just hold onto the receipt and use it for the next trip later this year.

Having a 3 year old - we try to use it as much as possible. I had some unbelievable shots this past trip. I love buying the CD, 'cause I can then use the pictures either for my daughter's Birthday Invitations or for my Christmas cards!

If you aren't buying the CD, you can always do the photomovie on the same website - that's a great keepsake (especially for little ones).

My sister did the calendar this past year - I think it was $25 or something like that. She got 12 pictures - you can't beat that!

Photo Pass question

We enjoy taking advantage of the Photo Pass opportunities. However, until very recently I was unaware that there are several "special effects" pictures that can be taken. Where and how does that happen?

Our stay at the Wilderness Lodge begins this Saturday!:sohappy: Super excited -- we're bring our daughter, son-in-law, and our three grandchildren, so we want to take every advantage of the photo pass possible.

Tell me how to do that, please! Thanks!

I would also suggest doing the same photos more than once, we did some of the same spots (like in front of the Castle) multiple times and at different times of day. That way if the picture was off or the photog wasn't having the best day, you still have a chance of getting that perfect picture. We figured what's the worse that could happen, we could get all perfect pics.

You can ask the photo pass photographers about them. We had several done on our last trip, but they were basically surprises and I noticed that the photographers didn't always do it for everyone, meaning they didn't necessarily do anything special for the few people in front of us. We just did what the photographers asked us to do. We have two where they had my son cradle his arms, and when we looked at the pics, he was holding baby simba. We also have a few of Tinker bell sitting on his hand, and one of all of us pointing to stitch who broke though the road. There was a photographer out side of Pirates of the Caribbean taking shots with people standing sideways holding swords and Captian hook appeared in the pic, looking like he was sword fighting. My son and husband did that one.

Anyway, back to the OP. I think it was worth it. We had maybe 175 pictures. The key is to really take advantage of the photo ops and do it at different times of the day and night, even if you have already been to that spot. What I really liked is that we have a ton of family pictures, where as one of us would normally be missing from the photo. The ones at the character spots are an added bonus, as is the test track ones. The only thing I was disappointed in and maybe it was my own fault for not reading the fine print, but I assumed that I could get all of my own pictured on the CD too. You can upload yours to the site and add embellishments and of course order prints, but they do not get added to the actual CD. I would have liked it if I could have all the photos in one place.

I don't understand how someone would have time to have the Photopass photographers take 100 photos for them? Doesn't that take a MASSIVE amount of time?

My idea of this thing is, you enter the MK, there's someone there to take your picture, you catch him when he's free, you all organize yourselves and pose in front of the castle, SNAP, and you move along. I couldn't see doing more than 3 or 4 a day... and just how many photos do you need standing in front of the park icon?

I know I'm missing something, because obviously, Disney thinks it's valuable since it's $130 for a CD of photos... but I'd expect to put about 6 photos on there max... so about $20 for a digital photo. Isn't it more economical and flexible to just have some random stranger take your photo with your camera?

It doesn't take that long for 100+ photos to be taken at all. We would hit them up as we were coming into the parks and leaving at night - to have the differing views of the same icon, but where we got the bulk was at the character spots. The photographers would start snapping the minute my son would start walking up to them and wouldn't stop until he was finished. We have a lot of candid shots this way, as well as posed shots.

If you're not into getting photos taken with characters, then you won't be doing too many; but if you like characters and their photo ops, you can easily fill a disk.

With prints starting at $12.95 and up, it only takes 10 photos to break even with the CD.

Random strangers don't always do a good job....

I hadn't realized that they took lots of photos when you were visiting with a character - that's a good idea. My wife and I get our character fix at character meals, so the character spots won't help us. Something about spending $130 on a single photo CD seems hard for me to swallow personally, but I could see how it would be really helpful for families. It's nice that they let you cram so many photos on the CD - too bad they don't charge on a per-photo basis, though.

The PP pics from the park can also add up quickly when you combine cards if you have several. This past summer we had 3 (my parents, my sisters family, and my family) from parks/characters. Then we had a private photo session for the whole family. We had a half-hour of the photographers time. What really made the price worth it to us was that the rights to the pictures is included in the CD purchase. That all by itself is a deal! For instance, I pay $50 to have my son's school pic rights released so that I can reprint as I please (that's for one pic!). My cousin just paid $350 to have her wedding photo rights released to her, and that is a common price for any photographer to release portrait photos rights.

I'm hoping my boyfriend will be patient enough to get a lot of pics taken b/c I'm interested in getting the CD. If not at least a dozen nice shots can get us a nice calendar. Along the same lines does anyone know the sitting fees for a private photo shoot.
Thanx :animwink:

I wasn't aware that you could do private photo sessions! How does one go about getting a private photo session and what is the fee?

Last time I was at the world I think this stuff was fairly new and I don't remember the photographers being in that many different places. Are they just in front of the main icons and in character meet n greet lines? Do they happen to be at the character meals too now or other places around the park? Just curious.

I love the photo pass and will do it every year I am there they got the greatest pictures that i wouldn't of been able to get. I had no problem finding places to get pictures taken also I loved that the photos I had taken at the Luau, CRT, Chef Mickeys, and Princess Storybook Breakfast could be added on so I could print more pictures to give to family. Also it doesnt take that much time out of your day to have the photos taken I never had more than 2-3 people in front of me besides for the characters, and they take at least 3 different shots at each location.
