Photomatt Pics - WDW MK 11.25.07 Reflections in the Magic Kingdom and a MVMCP

Howdy.

This is my first pictorial/trip report posted on wdwmagic.com, so please be gentle. I have posted on another board for several months, but it is mainly devoted to Disneyland. I would like to post some of my pics of WDW here, and see what the response is.

The text and pictures that follow are copied from my other post. I will post a little now and wait for a response. If everything is OK, then I will continue. Thanks in advance for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

(Begin Part 1)
I'm still going through tonight's pictures. I had this idea of a picture, and tried it the other day. It did not turn out because the foreground was too dark. I thought about a solution and tried it out tonight. I like the result, although it's still not exactly what I want.

Here's my first attempt, but it will get better.

I have lots more to post, but I just wanted to put this out there now.

Hello again. All of the pics have been uploaded. When I am done you will see why I titled the post the way I did.

I am going to start with a picture I took on the 23rd -

As you can see, Roy and Minnie are underexposed. If I change the exposure so that Roy and Minnie are OK, then Main Street would be way overexposed. The solution is to use a flash, but regular flash lighting would not look right. The bench would be one color temperature and everything else would be another. It would look like some of the parade pictures I will post later. I then realized that my flash came with gels that you can put over the bulb when you are taking pictures in incandescent light and flourescent light. I had never tried one, so I figured I would try it for this. As you can see in the very first picture at the beginning of the thread, the color tone is the same throughout and it does not look like a flash was used. I am fairly impressed by the results, although I would like more of Main Street to be in focus. I also want to time the picture so there are no people in the background. When or if I get it right I will post the results.

Here are some more pictures from the 23rd.

I spent awhile taking several versions of the previous picture. When I turned around no one was there, so I took the next three pics real quick.

Those are awesome pictures! I really love the crystal palace one!

Where do you post your disneyland pictures, I would really like to see them. Or maybe you can post them in the dl section here.

Great pictures - can you tell us how you took them? Or have you got a really complicated expensive camera?! Is is possible for us to take photos like that with a normal digital camera?

Also - how was there no-one there? Were you there really late? I have never seen it so empty!

Here are the pictures from the 25th. I will go in the order they were taken, but I will start with one of the more unique ones.

This picture was taken during a MVMCP, which is why the lighting is so unnatural. I need to go back on a normal day and redo this. But, the lights still make for an interesting picture.

The next few pictures are from the 6pm showing of Wishes, which not many people seemed to know about - including most of the CM's working on Main Street.

The craziness at the bottom left is a Mickey balloon. I also had some sort of funk on my filter, so the really bright shots did not turn out.

I have not posted any Disneyland pictorials yet. When I do I will make sure to post them in the Disneyland forum.

I use a Nikon D200, which is not a professional camera, but more of an advanced amateur one. All of the exposure information is still in the pictures. If you download any of the pictures you can find that information in the properties. Or, you can dowload a free exif viewer such as Opanda and get all of the information you would ever want.

The pictures with no one (or almost no one there) were taken between midnight and 1. Sometimes I wait until a little after 1, but that's about as late as I choose to stay. I try not to be the last one out.

I am not standing in the middle of the street for this showing of Wishes. I found a spot on the curb in between a trash can and what might be some sort of hitching post. It's off center, but I don't feel like I am in the way as much with my tripod. Let me know if you notice a difference, or if this still works. Also, my battery died just before the finale, so this is really only about 80% of the show.

I really want to know where all that junk came from! It wasn't there when I entered the park.

I need to time this so I get the flares forming the tree, there are only two before the star, and then the star. I want this shot!

It's a smiley face. When these go off facing the crowd, it's amazing.

This is from a window display on Main Street. This is probably the first hidden Minnie I have ever seen. :))
