Are the watch faces waterproof? I know the MB are but what about the new watchfaces. I have not seen anything addressing that one way or another...

Ugly and mo-fugly.

Both are bad accessory additions. If they really wanted a watch, then design another band to purchase for $50 with a digital time face integrated into the band w/ user replacable batteries. Yeah it'll have to be bigger... but it won't look like crap.

This is definitely a first gen attempt. I am sure they will add more functions to them soon. The only real solution would be like a few have mentioned smart watch capability and no not just apple watch for nfc but the ability to add your fast pass reservations in as alerts. That would be the only benefit as I said the MM+ system is not going to be fixed anytime soon.

How does the Apple Watch NFC work? I wouldn't want to be touching the glass face of my $800 watch to things.

the same way most nfc does, by close contact. Granted you could put a screen protector on it but that model is sapphire crystal and it probably will not scratch. The "cheaper", sport models will be more prone to surface scratches. NFC doesnt always require surface to surface contact but it doesn't allow much room for a gap. For example my wife and I usually buy the same phone just because its easier for me to help her when she has issues. We both had NFC for years in them and can pass photos, contacts, shortcuts etc. When she has her thick case on and i have mine it doesnt work. when one of us takes their case off, it works fine.

If you have used a magic band, you have to get right up in there and I am assuming its because of the rubber layer that is over the radio antenna embedded in the band.

Yeah, I've used the band and also the NFC on my Note 4, but the Note's is on the back of the device so doesn't require that you use the glass face. On the watches, the face is really the only part that's exposed.

Excellent point..... and phone :) I am sure there is a money spot on the watch, just like on the band but since the case is metal I am only assuming it will have a better range than the magic band so like steve said it may not require touching it but you may have to get really really really close and contact is possible. If you're not the one with the sapphire face you could definitely have a bad time.

That seems high. Off the top of my head, they're absolutely not getting anywhere close to that on Lego, DVDs, video games, Ray-bans, Dooney & Bourke, Melissa & Doug, SMS headphones, or just about anything in World Showcase.

Save for DVD's those are all non-Disney vendors. I'm talking about Disney merchandise.

This accessory has potential but the placement location on the band is awkward. I know it's for technological reason, but as a consumer, that's not really my problem.

I was eagerly anticipating a watch face, but did not expect it to be so large in comparison to the band.

I guess I'll continue to wear my regular watch and continue to carry my MB on my belt loop.
I will say, the way I wear my MB (Mickey head on the side of my wrist, not on top of it), the watch slider would be on top of my wrist like a normal watch. It would cover up the fancy graphics I paid extra for, though.

The NFC will not work through the watch unless its placed as shown in the pictures. It requires the Mickey head on the band to make contact with the reader at the park entrance, FP+ and hotel door readers.

You should need to actually touch anything, NFC just needs to be close. A few devices I believe require a tap which makes a contact touch and complete a circuit..I didn't think the magic bands are like that.

One of the big benefits of the MB is that it's waterproof.

Eek, I didn't realise the apple watch wasn't waterproof. That's rubbish.

I wonder how waterproof these will be, I could see them being useful for the waterparks.
