I'm also wondering what this show is going to be like, I've heard it will have Disney characters from famous movies, and it will have yhe classics like Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, etc.

I think it could be a lot like House of Mouse in terms of characters.

I'll have to wait and see like everyone else to find out what it will be like though.

It's going to be on a WIDE screen, like 170 feet wide. The film is also going to be CG. The storyline is that Maestro Mickey is conducting an orchestra and- never mind, you'll just have to wait till next year :).

I'll admit that I groaned when I heard that this was going to be movie, but now that I know some of the things that are going in, I don't think I care. This is going to be an excellent attraction.

From what I've read about it on this site, it sounds like its going to be very good.

However, I getting a little worried that it might be on a similar wavelength to Fantasmic - Disney wouldn't have two attractions based around the same theme would they ???

Food for thought.

Yeah, that's what I thought as well. In fact, they should have used the House of Mouse theme. But the CG bit, along with "Search of Mickey", just worries me. I really prefer classical animation. Remember that old Donald Duck cartoon that they had before the old 3D movie? That was so cool, and was regular animation!

See, I like anything to do with Mickey and the Fab 5 so I will like this attraction. Whether or not it's CG or not doesn't matter to me...I like the CG Mickey in the MuppetVision show...they did a good job with it.

The story is nothing like Fantasmic. Does anyone here remember the Mickey Mouse Revue that used to play in the theater? That is about the closest thing I can think of that it relates to.

I wasn't going to start another thread on this but when I was in Disney World last week I opened the door to the construction are, they are never locked, and saw that the old Lion King Show are is completly gutted out. The whole front wall is almost missing, I guess this means there are going to be major changes.

Wasn't it going to be a 3d movie mixed with live characters and special effects? Well, I think it's a great idea anyway... I looooove this kidn of attraction. Hey, I will try to open the door, too the next time I go there (hopefully in July or August).

Kisses from Brazil!

I still hope that they can get Roger Rabbit to make an appearance in Mickey's Philharmagic!

I'm also hoping to see some of my other favorites (like the Brers and the Pocahontas characters) in that new show as well.

Disney is going to:
a) take out the wall between the preshow area and the show area of Legend of the Lion King and merge the rooms to allow for the 170' wide screen
b) completely remove the existing theatre and its floor so that they can build a motion-based floor much like Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
c) install tons of in-theatre effects

As for the CGI animation: it's very tough to make traditional animation 3D...it would still seem very flat...there is one major difference between this and Fantasmic, other than the fact that it's not a fight b/t good and evil--that is that this attraction is looking at the music from all of the disney classics; granted Fantasmic! does feature music from the classics, I get the feeling that the music will be a much larger part of this production...you could guess that from the attraction name.

I was way too young to ever see the MM Revue (even tho my dad remembers it), but isnt it now in Tokyo DL?

And also, Philarmagic will be an opening attraction in Hong Kong, right?

man, do i ever! that donald duck cartoon was the BEST part in that whole show! i've always hated Magic Journeys! well, really, i never watched it...i went in with my family, and i watched bits and pieces of it, but for some reason it scared me....i always hated 3-d shows as a kid. lol, i think i was traumatized the first time i saw Muppets 3-d....when the little blue thing that flies around makes his nose real long and points it at you, i thought that he was pointing to ONLY me! and it embarrased me so badly because i thought he had called attention to me. everyone in the theater was laughing when he did that, so i thought they were all laughing at me. lol! i told my parents about it later on, and they reassured me that it was pointing to everyone...not just me. lol

Philharmagic sounds very interesting. I think that it will be somewhat like a Mickey Mouse Revue, but only a movie-3d-type attraction. I cant wait to see it!! Tinkerbell better be in it...

Is there a date, month, or season of when this attration might be ready??

I am planning to attend in 2003 to see Mission:Space and would also like to see this new attraction...

Any details would be great!
