Pets in Disney

I have a question. I am going to be staying at the All Star Movies Resort in December with my brother for a week. I have a small 2 pound chihuahua puppy who will be 5 months old at the time. I understand there are no pets allowed at any of the Disney hotels and they have kennels on site. But it says that the kennels are not staffed overnight. This really concerns me, one because of her age and two because of her size. I can't stand the thought of her spending the whole night crying, surrounded by dogs who are much bigger than her, without someone being around to look after them. I also don't understand why I need to pay $11 a night to leave her in a cage without supervision. So I guess the question is has anyone ever kept a small dog with them in their room successfully? And does anyone who has kept their pets in the kennels have any opinion on it? Thanks in advance!

My dog used to get urinary tract infections whenever we left her at the kennel when she was a puppy. Luckily my family is big enough that my brother (who doesn't like Disney and would rather spend a week with my dog) will come down from Massachusetts for the week and take care of Muffin. Or, we bring Muffin to my sister and her husband's house and they take care of her for the week. Their kids love my dog and shes good with kids since she's a lab so it works out pretty well.

For pet-friendly hotels, try Marriot Residence Inn. I don't know if there's one in the Orlando area but they seem to be pretty common. We had to take Muffin up to my cousins wedding in Massachusetts a couple years ago since my entire family was going to be there and obviously couldn't take care of the dog. The hotel was very clean, Muffin was confused but she dealt with it, and it was no problem at all. My aunt also brought her two dogs, a golden retriever and a dachsund to the hotel and was impressed with it as well.

As exciting as WDW trips are for us, it always pains me to see the dogs' faces the night before when the suitcases come down :( We've been trying out different friends and family members to come let the dogs out and make sure they're ok. This past trip we recruited my sister's boyfriend to come over 3 times a day to take the dogs out in the backyard, play with them, and refill the water bowls. According to the boyfriend, the dogs fared very well and more importantly did not destroy anything *faints* :lookaroun And we bought the boyfriend a t-shirt from POTC, a Stitch cap, and a frame. We also bought the brother (who drove him to our house each time) a set of shot glasses

It still sucks to leave them at home, but I much rather leave them here where the 3 of them will be together and in comfortable surroundings than in a kennel which they hate just from being at the vet.

Had a dog. Dont anymore. Wont have another.

I cant imagine anyone trying to keep their dog in their resort room with them. Not only is it against the rules it is inconsiderate of those that expect their rooms to be free of dog dander and other things dogs tend to leave behind...
