Peter Pan's Flight is like Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror in one regard - it tells a story and it tells it very well. I think that's why it's so beloved, despite its limitations.

But it's really past time for it to get a major upgrade. I've been advocating that for a long time. I agree with those here that the tech used in Mine Train could be applied to PPF. And a new exterior would be nice. Really, the whole thing needs to be rebuilt from the ground up to allow for a much better queue, a more enchanting exterior, and something better than that tin-foil volcano :p. What would be ideal is if a new PPF were built in a different location, and while it's being built, the old PPF could stay open. But all that's probably too costly, too imaginative and too ambitious for good ol' TDO...

It is what it is and that's a little kid friendly ride that adults can enjoy too. To be honest I think it would look odd if they added just one or two more modern AA's and left the other figures the way they are. The only way it would work for me would be to add a lot of new AA's and I don't think the scale of the ride justifies such an investment if I'm honest. It also feels very 'Walt' to me too, personally I would like it to stay pretty much how it is almost as a tribute to how the park began.

I think that the missing word throughout this thread is "charming". It doesn't have to be technically advanced. It presents scenes from a film in a comparatively simplistic way, and that's okay with me. Sometimes it's just as much fun for a kid to play with the box that the fancy toy came in.

Yes! (edit: I agree w/ the poster above, not that it is overrated. IMHO it most certainly is not).

At times it feels like you are the only one on the ride (or just you and who's in the boat with you). That in itself is a huge positive for it when the MK (and Fantasyland in particular) is so crowded. It has a simple, clear narrative. I particularly like the effect of flying over London and the buildings get smaller. And it feels 'classic'. I didn't notice anything wrong with it effects wise, but all this ride needs is for maintenance to be kept up. While it's a quick ride, it doesn't lack content (like 7 dwarfs) or lack a payoff (like Mermaid).

And, it's where 'Richard' usually works, and has as long as I can remember (last month he asked me if I would be afraid to go on by myself - awesome!)

That is true... Jack Sparrow looks really out of place compared to all of the classic AAs on PotC.. and the classic AAs are actually in pretty good shape! They should've made Sparrow either on the level as those AAs, are they should have replaced all of the other pirates to be just as realistic! Because right now, it looks like a live actor surrounded by.. Well.. Robots! :p

EDIT: that brings me back to agreeing with you on that.. It would look just as weird on PPF as it does on Pirates.

This ride somehow survived and Snow White and Mr. Toad were destroyed. This was the obvious ride to go. Even as a kid I was always less excited about this one. If anything, this could so use a facelift with technology. Actually take the "flying" theme to another level. Snow White should've stayed where it was (in the original "Scary Adventures" form). When I was young I was so impressed with how unique and risky Disney were in making the Snow White ride from her point of view. Too bad Disney later decided all their guests were idiots without imagination. And Mr. Toad...I don't even have to say anything.
