Per Jim Hill, the Star Wars restaurant is coming.

There honestly is no "Star Wars problem". It'll be fine. Once they open the big ticket RotR, all will be good. We need to view these early months as previews.

We hope...

Not that I want to interject the whole $$$ thing into this thread, economic uncertainty coupled with stratospheric price points could have an effect.

The sky is falling posts about Star Wars based on DL really make me lol. If it was a giant failure, ride times for the Falcon would be consistently low while ride times for everything else would be normal for this time of year. DL is a ghost town because they blacked out half their audience and most of the other half was scared away by predicted crowds.

As for a SWR, good! Build it! The sooner the better. But let’s face it, fast tracking by WDW standards means a 2021 Opening.

It's not just the posts here though... Disney is scrambling for lack of a better word. Reviews aren't helping and bloggers are particularly brutal. Merchandise sales are softer than anticipated as is attendance. I don't take much stock in it yet, the land is only partially open but it's not like we shouldn't be talking about it. Disney is and they're taking action.

Aren't they having problems keeping merch in stock?

If they really want to reverse, lift the AP blackouts. But they aren’t. Bringing back the original Soarin and MSEP is trying to get people to buy tickets and come. What AP holder is going to do that?
(But I digress since this thread isn’t about this).

Back to the restaurant, I don’t see this as a scramble. If we were always getting it, I see it as go ahead and do it now since it might not be so slammed (which remains to be seen.)

Before they lift the AP blackouts, they want to see if those blacked out would pony up for cheap day-tickets.

The reason why they won't do this, is because it would undervalue the expensive top level DL APs that they jacked the prices on earlier this year.

TDA got the calculus wrong and expected people to flock over to the top level passes for SWGE, and they didn't. Now they are stuck. If they backtrack, there will be a lot of people who bought an expensive DL AP for no benefit.

I don’t doubt they miscalculated. But that doesn’t mean the land is a failure either.

(No more disgressing by me, I pinky swear).

Maybe they’re panicking with the low low attendance at the DLR. Apparently they haven’t been breaking down the doors to get in since the beginning of June.

Yet despite the low crowds it's almost impossible to get into the cantina because of its pathetic capacity. Disney grossly underestimated people's desire to visit the cantina and over estimated people's desire to buy Star Wars merch or simply be OK eating at the cafeteria.
