Which do you prefer and why?

I always stay at PORiverside...but I'm considering Caribbean Beach this year. I'm worried that it will be a downgrade. They have no lounge...they have no piano dude. And, with my luck...I'll be placed at the far end of the resort and have to take a taxi to the food court.

I mean, I like to walk...but 3 miles is a little too much at the end of the day to go to the food court...

True, you have no piano dude... but you do get music on the beach. :king:

I don't know that I can say I prefered one over the other. It's just a completely different atmosphere.

I have had rooms at POR that were further from the food than our room at CBR, but that's the luck of the draw, I suppose.

This is my opinion only and I have stayed at both many times.

CBR...Very nice mod, Larges mod rooms, nicely themed pool, HUGE...did I say HUGE property. Nice food court. Downside...HUGE property, guest services located in seperate building away from food court.

POR...Also very nice mod, as I have said many times it has a deluxe feel at a mod price. Guest services right next to food court, piano bar(Dont mis Bob).Great pools,Great pool bar, its the only mod that has a marina where you can take a water taxi to a destination as in DTD or PORFQ.

As in all disney resorts they are both great, clean and relieable...you always can cound on a good room. Both ahve good food courts and sit down resteraunts. Bus service is great however CBR has a internal because of it size.

If it were my choice I would go POR.

That's what I like to hear...decisive

I love...LOVE POR...just wondering if it's worth trying CBR...

My wife loves Bob, the piano dude

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort features Banana Cabana, open from noon - midnight (weather permitting.) This poolside Bar offers tropical frozen drinks, snacks, and a full bar. Also Shutters at Old Port Royale (the full service restaurant) offers a full bar as well, no reservations needed.

Also remember, this resort also offers Preferred Rooms located in the Trinidad North and Martinique villages, a short walk away from Old Port Royale where the dinning and main pool are located, for the same price as you would pay for a Water View or King Bed room. Be sure to ask for availability when you book your room as this is a specific room category.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

I would deffinately say its worth a try. If nothing else on your next trip stay at POR but go over to CBR one afternoon and hang around, check out the Pools, Food, Boats/bike rentals, and different buildings. Some of the best times ive had at disney have been while "Hotel Hopping".

I definately prefer CBR. The rooms are bigger, the grounds are nicer, the resort is more colourful, the food court is better, and the bus service is much better. There are quite a few stops at CBR, but at least it has it's own bus. I've found the bus service at POR and POFQ to be horrendous the last couple trips (May and December).

That sounds like a good idea. Does CBR have a gift shop with small snack section and refrigerated drinks?

That's a very good point...POR seems to have the longest wait for a bus...my wife is always looking over at over resort bus stops and comparing.

I always say..."see, our resort is more popular.."

It seems most people that travel to WDW have a favorite resort. Mine is WL. However, I think you might miss out on some unexpected magic if you don't try something new. We're going to try FW cabins this year and maybe the BC next year.

I tend to prefer the CBR. I like the tropical theme, I like the layout of the food court better, and you don't feel as "closed in" as you do, say, in the Alligator Bayou areas at POR. The last time I was there, I stayed in Jamaica, building 45, which is right across the lake from Old Port Royale--you just take a nice leisurely stroll across a bridge, and you're there.

That's another good point...

I've always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge...

You know it will always be your own personal preference no matter what, but i prefer POR. I haven't stay at CBR in years, but honestly I wasn't very impressed when I did stay there. When you live in FL, like myself, you are surrounded by beaches on a daily basis. Therefore I like the theming of POR more.

Hopefully I would be able to get a building close by...

I don't mind walking...just not 3 miles...

First off...that is a GREAT picture!!!

You see, that's what is so hard...I love POR themeing...I'm up for something different, but afraid CBR wouldn't be as nice.

I've stayed at both. I've been at POR twice (Dixie Landings was its name the first time that I stayed there). Caribbean Beach was our resort in 2001. I loved them both. I remember more from POR since I've been there most recently but I do remember quite a bit from Caribbean Beach as well. Since you've been at POR so much, stay at CB this time. I love the tropical setting and all, it is just so different from boring ol' southeast Missouri.

However, POR, I must say, is absolutely beautiful! I LOVED the setting. It was amazing. However, I didn't like the walk. We were in Acadian House and the walk was atleast 5 minutes to the food courts. It was worth it though...I really liked the food court setting and all. At Caribbean Beach, I don't remember exactly how long the walk was to the food courts but honestly, I don't think we went there all that much. It was an 8 day trip and I think we visited them maybe 4 times. I remember us taking the bridge/boardwalk to the food courts one night and it was a lovely walk. It took maybe oh... 8 minutes? We were staying in Barbados.
