Doesn't bother me.
My nephew lives very near Disneyland. Apparently all the kids in the area go to just "hang out" as they would at the local mall. They all call it "Disney". What I thought was amusing was when he was at WDW with us, he kept referring to Disneyland as "Disney" and it took a breath or two to figure out what he was talking about. By the way, he constantly had his camera going and uploading to his on line account so his friends could see the difference between Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom and Disneyland.
One thing I do find annoying is what seems to me to be an incredible overuse of acronyms for almost every physical, mechanical, or object in Disney World. I keep having to jump back and forth to the guide thread, only to find out people are making up their own as they go along. Does that count?

It only bothers me when people get something so wrong that it's actually confusing. For example, calling DHS "Universal" or thinking that Universal and Disney are the same. I was in line at DHS actually one time getting a Burger, and a dude I didn't know kept complaining to me that Disney didn't keep their hotels nice enough. I asked him what Disney hotel he was staying at. His response? "Orlando Days Inn."

It never irritates me if the casual guest does not have 100% perfect knowledge of every little aspect of WDW.

Frankly, I do not understand why people should be so annoyed by it.

I remember a sad chapter where on some family WDW website, that shall remain unmentioned here, insults and threats were directed at a local Canadian reporter for getting the name of the 'Teacups' wrong.

Wow... That's a little extreme. And I think if people REALLY get that bent out of shape over it, they need to get a life. LOL

I'm with you on that one... Is it really that much harder to type the whole name for something? :)

It does tend to irk me just a bit...
I hear the Magic Kingdom called Disney World all the time. I even have a friend who is a longtime passholder that calls the MK Disney, or Disney World every time she talks about going...that drives me nuts! She's been a passholder for years and still hasn't gotten it...until now, when I finally went with her and explained that she is referring to the Magic Kingdom. I pointed it out on the park map as well as in numerous places INSIDE the park, so now she knows to call the place Magic Kingdom. :king:

I hear the Universal Studios confusion oftentimes too, and me being the 'polite' guest I am, I normally correct them and inform them that the prak, rides and attractions they are refurring to are at another theme park resort down the freeway. Oftentimes they actually thank me for the info. I've even had people ask me how to get there driving, or how to get a cab to get there, etc.

The whole Magic Mountain thing...I don't get that one. But I know you'll NEVER see that Mountain in Disney...Six Flags would sue the pants off of them! Six Flags Magic Mountain is the park in Valencia California which will hold the title as the park with the most roller coasters in the world, with 18 this year!

Sometimes it can be annoying to be corrected when its a small misstep. I had a friend ask for directions to "Camp Mickey-Minnie"

To which the cast member replied "There's no land here by that name"

"There isn't"

"No but do you mean Camp Minnie-Mickey"

Obviously the cast member was trying to be funny-I think-but still come on it's close enough.

Maybe she was referring to her friend
Ok, so I just hurt myself!

One thing I forgot to mention, which I do myself is call Port Orleans French Quarter, "Port Orleans".
I still call the other place Dixie Landings. Always will. It's stuck in there now.
I'm also an MGM guy. I know, there was already a thread on that one but still.

Honestly, I don't really care. You try and figure out what the mean and go from there. Eventually you can adjust. It used to bother me as to the number of acronyms people used on this site, but eventually you learn what they are and go on. Realize these people are on vacation and are asking for help. If you were in a similar situation, how would you feel if people were more concerned with making fun of how you asked for help than in actually trying to help you.
