Peeps on SSE! Soft openings!

They just closed the gate to SSE. Not sure if it will reopen later or not.

Wouldn't it be funny if Disney was monitoring this thread and closed SSE just because people announced it was open? Well, maybe not funny, but...

All this uncertain soft opening stuff makes SSE look like a diva or a tempermental rock star.

Manager: "Will you get on stage now?? The crowd's here!"
SSE: "I won't go until my final descent is sparkly!!"

Line is forming

There is a line forming that is backed up to the Art of Disny Store. Attraction is not open and only vauge rumors of "sometime after 3" are floating around. There are going to be a lot of upset folks if they stand in line for nothing, but then again that is the risk they are taking.

Last update of the day for me.

Looks like they are going to bring it up and down all afternoon. Opened twice in the last hour for sure. Lots of surveys being taken so my money says we are looking at soft open through the holidays and then back down for tweeks in Jan. (Like a previous poster noted). Great work Disney on giving us a chance to give you feedback.

Waited for over two hours and started to walk around since I had to leave in a little while and didn't want my entire trip to be a complete waste (except of course for meeting fellow SSE fans).

As I walked back I stopped into Project Tomorrow to see if I could at least peak in to see the cars. They were letting people on and I asked a CM "Why do they get to go on?" He said that they are about to open the ride for one hour. What was left in my spot was a cloud that looked like me because I had run out the door and sure enough, they had just opened the door to let people on.

I snapped a ton of photos on and off of the ride. It was great. The ending needs work like everyone has been saying BUT all of the equipment I saw was from the old version. The lighting effects and such were from the last version. The curtains on the walls were covering the old scenes from the finale.

Overall, the ride seemed smoother especially during the descent. The new narration was very good. I recorded an MP3 of it and will post it later this evening. The new dawn of time visuals were great and all of the AA's we amazing. The new scenes were very well done but the Woz AA didn't seem to be moving so it probably will be getting more work. The paperboy was still turned but audible. The score was great although my wife said she couldn't here it over the narration.

Merf, I know you have been debating whether or not to go and I say do it. I am a die hard SSE fan and was not disappointed. Where I felt the ending let me down, the love of the AA's made up for it.

That was exactly was I was afraid they were going to do for the past 6 months! :brick:

they actually ripped out the old scenes...:brick:

thanks for posting the mp3, the narration sounds fantastic and I really like her. However the music Im dissapointed in, it just doesnt go anywhere and is not as majestic as the old music, there is no hook in it.
and the descent (from a sound only perspective) sounds boring musically and nothing memorable like before. as for the rest of it visually hopefully there are still effects to be turned on.

Looks good on video

Jose Eber provided a ride-thru -- it looks pretty good. I'm impressed with the added animation of the AA figures throughout.

I like the Judi Densch narration -- and the new script is terrific. Tying it in to more recent discoveries is a great idea.

Used to work at WDW and rode Spaceship Earth a lot in the late 80s -- haven't been back much in more recent years. But I did notice that the black guy holding the newspaper in the printing press scene has a new face.

I would agree that the music is a bit under-whelming. But, then again, the orchestration for the 'Tomorrow's Child' sequence when you're at the top of the sphere is pretty lush and beautiful. This new piece seems a bit thin, instrumentation wise.
