Payments for disney vacation?

Hi, please don't kill me if this has been asked before, I'm on my phone and wasn't really in the search the whole message board mood lol I just have a quick question...

While I have been to Disney with my family many times in the past I have never been the one organizing it, I decided I would try to set up a Disney Vacation this winter as a surprise but I don't currently have the $2,400+ needed. I checked the bookwdw Disney Site to check for prices and such and I will be able to afford it but not right this second. I saw that it asked for a $200 deposit but didn't go any farther than that.... My question is whether or I keep going do I have to pay the rest then or could I put in money every month or like every 2 weeks? Thank you for your help and time if you do help me.

For a Walt Disney World vacation package (one that has a room, tickets, etc,) you need a $200 deposit (like you saw) and the remaining balance is due 45 days out from your travel date.

You can make payments in between however often you like, and for whatever amount you like (minimum $20).

You pay a deposit of $200. Then you can make payments - as much or as little as you can and as often or as few as you want. The full payment must be received by 45 days to your check in date. You can make payments by mail, by internet or by phone. They accept check in the mail or debit or credit card via the internet or phone.

I'm not 100% positive on the dates, I need to figure out a way to find out my family's availability... however tentative dates were December 17-21, 1 room, 2 adults, 2 kids (17, 15), Art of Animation in the Mermaid one (not the suites), 5 day w/ park hopper and quick service dining plan... that is what I was thinking about. Disney's booking says it would be $2,421.44.

If you're flexible on your hotel, you could stay across the lake at Pop Century and get the quick service dining plan free during those dates. A quick quote on disneyworld.com shows those same dates and tickets for the four of you at $1841.12 including the free dining plan.

I was hoping to try out the new hotel but I didn't realize the pop century was $600 cheaper... We usually do go to Pop Century each year so I think with that discount I'd go with Pop instead

The difference is basically the dining plan being free, not so much the hotel itself. You can still walk over to the new hotel and check out the grounds, restaurant and shop.

We've never had any problems with Pop so for that discount ill definitely switch to pop century. I was wondering why the price was so high since I thought free dining was around then.

You could even stay at Port Orleans and get the free Dining for $2194.64 and that includes a garden view, 5 day park hopper, and the Magic Your Way Plus Dining. Not quick service dining but regular dining and it is still cheaper then staying in one of the Art of Animation Suites.

Unfortunately I just found out my mom doesn't have that week off from work and since the free dining ends the 20th the time after Christmas jumps the price up quite a bit... I'm going to have to either find a way to get her to switch vacation days or scratch the idea sadly... Thanks for the help though

You might want to consider opening a Disney Visa card as you get 6 months interest free in paying for the Disney package vacations. The last time I went to Disney I divided the total cost of the vacation by six and made that payment each month once the trip was over, so that it would be paid in FULL by the end of the six months. I still had to pay the deposit right away on my credit card but it was nice paying the balance over six months instead of all at once. It is also nice to earn Disney dollars year round to use on current or future trips.

Yep- for a bounceback offer (35% off hotel stay), I am trying to get my husband to consider the 200$ deposit and payments t/o the year and adding tickets/ dining plan ( hopefully free) at a later date when we're able to pay. We'll see....

If you are booking just the room portion, you cannot turn that into a packge by adding the tickets and the dining plan at a laster date, you will have to book the package and pay the $200 deposit but keep in mind that you can cancel without penalty up to your 45 days prior mark.

Also keep in mind that if you book and pay your deposit with the Disney Visa that the free dining offers are out for the Disney Visa cardholders usually a few days before it is out for the general public whenever it is released. You can call and have the discount applied and the castmember will verify your credit card that you made your deposit with.

I too don't have all the funds right now to pay my trip in fully like I usually do and I am working on paying off a credit card that is pretty high due to school requirements which is causing me not being able to get another credit card right now (too high of a balance where other companies won't give me anything). I am hoping to get money back from school to pay the card but in the meantime I am paying my balance with 200 a wk until I can pay the remainder with extra funds. Being young and stupid can definitely hurt you later on.
I would just budget how much you need to pay and by when and if you don't have the funds at all or can't pay it off by then, then would suggest rebooking you trip for a different time.

Thank you for the information. I guess we'll have to book the package. But, if free dining were to come about, would they "change" the reservation to reflect that?

It will depend on where you stay and your room type in case they become close to or fully booked by the time tha offer is released. Disney will not automatically change that, you will either have to call in and ask them to do it or book it through Kingdom Konsultants and we do it automatically for you.
