Passholder Room Discounts non-existant???

I just spent the last hour trying multiple dates from this weekend through the end of the year and almost nothing was available except maybe one or two deluxe villa resorts (and I'm not looking to pay $2,000 a night even if that's a discounted rate!??!?!)....usually some others will come up as not available for this promotion and just show the rack rate, but even that wasn't showing up for almost any of them.....are the resorts really THAT full?? Is there an issue with the computers and this happens from time to time?? I've never had this happen in 6 years of being a passholder....for me, the reason for having my pass is weekend trips, I'm just a 3 hour drive away, and finding a resort on property with a discount is key, if that's going away, its going to be VERY hard for me to renew my pass....

As Belle mentioned previously, take advantage of the discounts just released and then when AP discounts come out for the same time frame, see if those rates beat the general public discounts. I booked a full rack rate room for MLK weekend a few months back because I wanted that resort and knew that room discounts would come out sometime in October. Had to wait on hold for 40 minutes this morning, but I now have the reservation at the discount and saved 600 bucks. And if the AP discount is better, then I will see if the resort and room type is available then. However, I would contact Kingdom Konsultants since Disney's phones were slammed this am - got the "all circuits are busy" message several times before finally getting through and then a 40 minute hold.

I've got a reservation for Thanksgiving that is split between full rack rate and AP discount and was told that I wouldn't have to check out and check back in again. Which I will happily cancel if my DVC wait list comes through...

Pretty much. They have designed it so people with APs get screwed. They want everyone to stay onsite for 2-5x the cost of rooms. They make less off APs, so they are doing everything they can to phase them out. FP+ only 30 days out, limited/no discounts.

I don't aggree with this at all.

As an AP holder, i always stay on site - that's where the benefits are!

Plus as a FL resident my AP is even cheaper than out of state AP's.

Speak for yourself! It's a huge value to me.

Also, having an AP makes scheduling more flexible, just because a public offer comes out, DOES NOT mean we have to jump on it. We certainly can wait for AP discounts.

We go when we want to.

I disagree completely. I have always been able to get an AP deal at the hotels to save a least $100 each trip over the GP discount, I get merch and dining discounts, and I don't think the FP+ at 30 days is meant to phase out APs but rather to encourage APs to stay at a resort on site. Doing so gets you the 60+10 viewing window. It seems odd to complain both about the 30 day booking window for FP+ and about the limited discounts. Those are complaints for different people. Either you want to stay on site and wish there were more discounts or you don't and wish you could book FP+ further out.

Personally, I still find my AP to be a great value. When our boys are older and we go back to only (only...) going to WDW once a year in favor of other destinations for other vacations, we will drop our APs. Don't buy something if you don't think you are getting value.

The best rates are closer to the date of arrival. Pass holder rate is the same as fl resident rate. They're just terms for rooms open with discount which fluctuate daily I suppose. I always just go to wdw full web site go to the bottom where it's says special offers. They have the dates with discounts available in time slots.
Good luck

Ps
Disney stoped valuing it's ap holders when monthly payments became available. I was a ap holder for 9 years since 2002 and now again. Now EVERYONE has an ap sticker on their car in south Florida.
