nope, we tried to park there to do the same thing, but you have to be eating there. they have really limited parking. sorry!

but try another place right on the monarail service. it might be different. though, you might have to show a lot of IDs and your pass for the All star resorts. they have really gotten strict after the 9/11 attacks.

have fun in disney!:)

FanofDisney hit the nail on the head. Some of the guide books talk about this method to avoid paying the parking fee and getting out of the parks faster when you leave. We went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast last year in April, and went this year at the same time. Big difference! Even though this year we stayed on-property, we were "screened" more than when we stayed off-property last year.

well,

I would ride the busses also, but if you just wanted to check out the resort you can always take the resort monorail over from MK and check it out - actually, I took an afternoon break from the MK last trip to "explore", although I went to the Grand Floridian and Polynesian. I think it can make a neat retreat if lines are long and you can get a feel for the resort without staying there (that way, if you fall in love with one like i did with the Polynesian, you can book yourself a room there sometime with confidence!)

You can park there but they give you a 3 hour parking pass but sometimes like on Sunday in the off season you MIGHT be able to get away with it, but don't do it because it is unfair to that resorts' guests. Only park there if you are dinning there. Also, if you want to take the monorail to MK take your All-Star bus to the TTC and take the resort monorail line or Express line (which ever you perfer) to the MK it is much more fair that way but it may take more time.

There is no point in doing that since the busses will take you to the gate of the MK. And also parking is free for resort guests so even if you want to ride the monorail, you still get to park for free.

Does anyone know if you can leave the car there all day if you are dining there? We were thinking of having breakfast at Chef Mickey's and then heading straight into MK for the day afterward. Would we have to move the car first?

You Could...

You could park there for breakfast - they will give you a 3 hour parking pass - but after that, just to be safe, I would move the car.

If you wanted to go through the trouble, you could take a bus to the MK or drive and park, take another to the Contemp., and then ride the monorail back to the MK. That seems like a lot of trouble though...:p

yes, as a disney resort...person... you get full use of trans, but you do not get full use of parking. you can have free parking at your resort, all the parks and the DTD, but not at other resorts.

Yes you would have to move your car. Why can't you just go to MK and walk to CR? It's a short walk.

That or risk getting your car towed. It's not worth it. Drive to MK and park or just take the bus.

Back when WDW only had the MK resorts, and even when they added the CB and S&D, resort guests could park at any other resort, and utilize the facilities...including pools. Now you're "technically" limited to your own resort's amenities (including transportation and free parking in the PARK lots), except for restaurants and shops.

I understand the pools...but what if you are a resort guest and you are at MK and want to go to EPCOT...are you entitled to use the monorail?

*singing *Let's get technical, technical, I wanna get technical...oh...sorry! ;)

Of course you can...you just aren't allowed to park at someone elses resort to use it.

If you were a guest at the Contemporary would you want to have outside people parking in the spaces there. I know I wouldn't want that.

As an insider, I feel obligated to answer this question better then all of you. I go to the Polynesian so much, I feel like we live there. I know 50% of the CMs that work there during the day. I know everyone who works at the Tambu Lounge. I even know "Da Big Kahuna" him self. It's actually written that way on his name tag. lol. I can tell you for a fact that Disney doesn't have a daily towing service that goes around Resort parking lots looking for cars that don't have 3-Hr Parking tags. I've parked at the Poly about 300 times, and have never had a problem. We've always stayed more then 3 hrs. And we've almost always gone to the MK while we were parked there. Never a problem at all. However, we always eat and shop at the Polynesian. But that only takes about 2 hours. Then we go to the MK for the rest of the day, and when the park closes, we come back to the Poly. to have a drink. Our car was still there at about 1am. Please note that we've only stayed at the Poly once, but parked there hundreds of times, without any problems at all. Now, the Contemporary is another story, because their parking is very limited, but the Poly is perfect. :)

Oh, so it was YOUR fault that I had to walk about a mile to retrieve something I left in the car; I couldn't find an empty parking space close to the hotel!! :p

Listen no matter how big the parking lot or if you know CM's at WDW, the point is it is unfair to the resort guests staying at the resort. Also, WDW does tow cars. That is a fact. I to have friends who work at WDW but you dont see me parking in spots reserved for other guests. So don't park in other guests spots when you are not staying at that resort, or else I will call up my friends at WDW and have them tow your car !!!
