Parking Lot Trash

Sad commentary on society --too many people are slobs, I wonder if they do this at home, I hate to think of what their houses look like. Unfortunately this is not unique to WDW just look at all the trash dumped along the highways.
You ain't kidden', John. The average IQ of Jane and John Doe is simply plummeting, along with their desire to be kind to others. It amazes me how unkind and inconsiderate people can be to others, even on these boards. Aggressiveness, carelessness, and being flat out rude has become the norm in society. I'm not saying I haven't disagreed with others, but there are better ways of addressing issues. Regarding littering, I frequently find myself picking up other people's trash in public and throwing it away. I'm stunned when I see people blatantly throwing trash on the ground or out their car window in plain view of all. Have you no shame??

I live right near a T-intersection (side streets). Several years ago I installed a bunch of security cameras on the front of my house due to dealing with a literally crazy neighbor who has almost attacked me a couple of times. That's a whole different story. I can't tell you how often I find trash on my front lawn, go to the video "tape", and see people who turned at the intersection and just flung their McDonald's bag or cup out the window to land on my lawn or the street. I have no idea who these people are so it's not personal... just plain ignorance. Btw, I'm not including picking up other people's trash in my front lawn with picking up after people in public above. If you wouldn't want to live with your trash strewn around your house, why would you want your neighborhood or the world in general to look like that.

Once was stuck in traffic, was not moving at all. The mini van in front of me rolled it's windows down and proceeded to throw out soda cans, paper fast food bags and other junk, a whole family doing it. Well I was disgusted but before I knew it an in full uniform US Army guy had gotten out of his car behind me and walked right up to them. Don't know what was said but I never saw a group of more slobs get out of a car out faster and clean up their mess, mom dad, the kids all of them. Several other drivers and I all applauded the soldier, it was like something out of a movie.

Even in my apartment, people will leave a trash bag sitting right in the hallway, in the hallway. It's disgusting. I spent a lot of time in apartment maintenance so it bugs the heck out of me to see trash just laying on the ground. Just take it to a garbage can and throw it in. Its not that hard.

This is an awesome story. As I was reading I was picturing a uniformed policeman catching them, but a US Army soldier is 100x better. I'm going to picture he said the following: "I joined the Army, risked my life overseas, and am willing to die for this country, and YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE TURNING IT INTO YOUR PERSONAL TRASH CAN???" Whatever he said, that public but civil shaming is excellent!

What gets me is that the very next place you're going to in your car ...... there will be a trash can! Going home? There's a trash can. Going to work? There's a trash can. Etc...

In Singapore, littering can have the offender face fines including corrective work order to include forced public clean up by the guilty party.

It's a beautiful story and I don't see it as 2 wrongs. It was one wrong and one perfect piece of retribution.
we need more of this kind of vigilantism
