Parking at the Polynesian

Hi all, does anyone have any helpful information regarding parking at the Polynesian and any restrictions..? We will be staying at the Beach Club, but have an early morning (7:30) PS for breakfast. Our plan was to hop on the monorail and head to the MK afterwards and pickup the car later on in the afternoon. Normally, we would just take the bus but because of the time of breakfast, didn't want to have to worry about catching a bus really early. Any feedback? Thanks!!

They will give you a two or three hour parking permit to put on the dash board with a time on it. That is what they did to me. I do not know if they check those. The problem is that if everyone parks in the Poly lot. There are not enough spaces for resort cars. They may also ask you for your name and reservation number for breakfast especially if they lot is getting full. Try to have that reservation number. The worse that can happen is that goofy will tow you to toon town city hall.

Actually the worse that could happen is to have your car towed, but not to Toon Town. You'll have to pay towing/impound costs plus a ticket.

I haven't seen too many cars be towed, but have seen several get tickets.

Ok... this is another thought, how about parking at the TTC and walking to the Poly and then picking our car up there when we are heading back to the BC? That should be ok I would think?!:veryconfu

That would be good. There shouldn't be a problem with that.

Even though your car probably wouldn't be towed I think that you should still go along with the TTC idea. It will be much more curteous to the guests that are actually staying at the resort.

Since you mention towing if they dothat who does the tow and where do they tow a regestered resort guest from another WDW resort. Like if I was staying at WL and drove to the Contempoary for breakfast and then took the Monorail to MK or EPCOT. what would be the usual responce .

We had a PS for early in the morning at the Poly when we went in April. My dad was planning on parking there and riding the Monorail over to MK, but since they gave him the 2-3 hour parking pass, he had to move the car over to TTC and then we got on the Monorail and rode it over. We did end up with free parking though because we thought we'd be parking at the Poly not TTC!

I think the problem with parking at any of the resorts, rather than in the parking lots, is that there is always the possibility that you will get ticketed and/or towed if you overstay your alloted time. There is no guarantee that this will happen, and people do get away with it, but there is always the chance that you won't! Why risk having a really lousy day just to save a few bucks, or a few minutes?

If you were staying at a WDW resort, there is free parking for the length of stay. When you check in they give you a piece of paper for the dashboard of your car with the check-in, check-out dates and the resort you are staying at.

Also, I have not been down since September 11th. I do not know if any one knows but I would guess security at resort parking has been stepped up a bit. They probably will ask a few more questions. I am sure it is ok to go to resort hotel to eat, but I bet they are checking those dash board passes. 2 hours is a long time to eat breakfast but not enough time to go to the MK. When I was staying at Wilderness and went to the Poly for breakfast, the entry guard was friendly but made it very clear that the pass I was given was for only two hours ,
" Thanks for waiting sir and enjoy your breakfast"

Also when I made reservations last month. The reservation person asked me for the last date I came to WDW. Was that a sort of identity check? They must have my name in the computer. I have made reservations so many times. Maybe I am overthinking it and it was just a survey question. I dunno

We were there last week of June. When we got to the gate at the Poly, we told the guard we were checking in, he asked for the reservation/confirmation sheet (that never happened to us before 9-11). We had 2 cars and my brother who had the sheet was in car #2. We radioed back and he started to get the sheet. I explained the situation to the guard and then he asked for the name on the reservation. Gave the name and he checked on the computer for our reservation. When he found it, he waved us both in. We parked and checked in.

Sounds to me either they have steped up security at WDW from my experience in 93 or this piciticular guard is very efficent and does his job well.

When we last stayed at the Poly, August '99, the guard stopped us and checked our reservation and confirmation. Maybe it just depends on who is on duty. Parking there was a pain alot of times. I wound up going out and moving our van the next morning to get closer so we wouldn't have to haul all of our stuff a mile.

Yes security is tight. We stayed at OKW right after 9/11 and my parents had gone up the day before and when we got to the "gates" the guards were like "what are you doing here", and "who are you meeting". So security has been stepped up.

We've driven to WDW 3 times before and had a rental car on another occasion. Every time we simply said we were checking in and the gate guard directed us to check=in, Poly twice, Dixie once and Contemporary once. This last time at the Poly was when they actually checked our reservation and I previously mentioned. In my opinion security seemed tighter.

it all depends on the guard. The girl at OKW checks out everyone. The old guys just wave you through LOL. Or if you are in a town car you get waved through as well.
