Park Wifi

It's okay, I had trouble many many times trying to get a connection at all four parks at times. But if you are partient you will eventually find a connection.

It's usually pretty bad in the MK. Slow but connected. I think they are in the process of trying to improve the experience though. I've heard they've been upgrading available bandwidth.

I last went in January 2014. Had no issues, but it was a fairly low crowd time. I imagine during the busier times (summer/Christmas) it can get pretty congested.

It's decent pretty much everywhere; it's significantly improved from last year, however. Last year the Wi-Fi barelyl worked at all.

Thank you for asking the question. I had been wondering about this as well. I had heard awhile ago that it was very bad. But I had assumed that they made it better. Sounds like they have.

It has definitely improved lately. I still find myself switching to cellular at times if wifi is too congested. (T-mobile is pretty fast in all of the parks and resorts.)

Better than it was but still constantly drops out and fails to reconnect at random.

The installed infrastructure wasn't the best.

People always trash the wifi but I have never had a major problem with it. Sure, sometimes it disconnects briefly but usually reconnects when you walk just a bit further. The speed is always reasonable for using MDE, posting to Instagram, emailing, etc. We shouldn't forget that it's a free service. I'm actually pretty impressed at how widely the coverage reaches in the parks and resorts.

I've never noticed an issue with the wi-fi, although with my 4g working really well in Florida I'm usually so excited to use my cellular, lol.

I almost wish it didn't exist. People are out of control with cell phones.

When I'm at Disney, I ALWAYS leave my phone in the room. I figure, why look at stock portfolios, text, and post to Facebook while I'm trying to have fun? Everything I need is right there.

It helps somewhat to have a phone if you're trying to keep your Fast Pass schedule and dining reservations straight, but I write them down for the day on a Post-It and I'm good.

You have to keep in mind though that there are many people for whom this is not an option. I am a manager in the IT department of my company, and even when I am on vacation, I am not THAT on vacation. I always have to be reachable by my team in case of emergency.

The only time I take my phone out at WDW is when I need to change my FP+ selections.

That really sucks, but you're still an exception. Most people are just on Facebook, Twitter, and randomly texting during The Hall of Presidents and The American Adventure.

I'm sorry, but who are you to decide what is "out of control" for someone? I understand that you don't "need" it, but maybe others enjoy having their device with them and it enhances their vacation. Also, most phones are excellent cameras, so I will not be leaving mine in the room.

I play a geolocation game that has me capture virtual markers within the parks and to do that I need my phone. I am able to play my game while touring and enjoying the parks. Double the fun for me.
