Park plans?

I have been to Disney World over 20 times, but I am going to Disneyland tomorrow for a few days for the first time. When I go to WDW, I know what order to do the rides in and what lands get crowded at what times of the day. At Disneyland, I will know nothing. If anyone has any tips about what areas to go to first at either park it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about what lands, where to be, etc. but I do know the attractions you must see!

1. Pirates of the Caribbean (WDW got the cliff notes version of the Disneyland PotC)

2. Matterhorn Bobsleds (although jerky and rough, one-of-a-kind and the inspiration for Everest at DAK)

3. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters (From what I hear, twice as good as WDW's version, only shorter)

4. Jungle Cruise (Disneyland classic recently spruced up with a new speil and new effects)

5. Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years (Though I've never seen it, I've heard great reviews. A must for any Disney history buff)

6. Remember... Dreams Come True... (Just THE best fireworks show EVER! It blows Wishes and IllumiNations and Sorcery in the Sky out of the... sky! Make sure you're on the Hub, with a good view of the castle and the Matterhorn)

7. Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams (I saw a video, it's a great parade with great floats with sooo much detail)

8. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (Boring to some, but a remake of the original with 21st century technology)

9. Haunted Mansion (The original and the best setting for a haunted house)

and more, but I cant think of any at the moment.

DCA must-sees

1. Soarin' Over California (same version as the Epcot one, only a more boring queue)

2. Grizzly River Run (great theming in that area)

3. Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular (what some people call the best show in all of the DLR)

4. Tower of Terror (Not as good as WDW's version, but pretty good nontheless)

and more, but DCA doesnt have as many as Disneyland next door.

Hope I've helped...

I just got back from DLR, and let me tell you, the tips that ImaginEAR posted are VERY GOOD.

Let's just say that Disneyland is very magical and charming, and now I want to visit every year. Being a WDW AP is nice, but Disneyland just has something special about it that WDW doesn't have (you would have to visit the place to know what I am talking about :animwink: )

I am sure that you will have a wonderful time!

Head into Critter Country first, to get a Fastpass for Splash Mountain, as those sell out very early in the summer. While waiting for that time to roll around, head over to Adventureland and ride Indy before Stand-by gets too unbearable.

Ride all of the Fantasyland rides in the morning. Large crowds do not show up in the summer until the afternoon, and since Fantasyland is Fastpass-free, get on those rides before they all have 40 minute waits.

See Remember at 9:25 and then sneak over for the 2nd showing of Fantasmic!, which is less busy.

At DCA, start off w/ a FP to Soarin' and Grizzly. Grizzly is on a separate FP system, so you can get a FP for it and any other DCA FP attraction at the same time! The same can be said for Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin at DL. While waiting for your DCA FPes, go ride the ToT. Pretty much the only MUST SEE in Paradise Pier is California Screamin', which is much better at night.

It was good, but it just didn't thrill me. I thought it depended too much on razzle dazzle to impress people rather than on content and talent. I dunno.

I despise inserting pop culture references into things, so the genie annoyed me to the point where I almost got up and left. Maybe that's why the show in general has left a bad taste in my mouth.

But I agree with all of his tips. I just visited DLand for the first time a few weeks ago and it is fast becoming my favorite Disney park. You'll love it.

That sounds like a really good strategy. I just might have to use this a few times. Thanks, Kyle! :D
