Park Hoppers

Hi everyone!
My sister just gave me a call because her, her fiancee, and some of her fiancee's sisters are going to WDW in March. They had a few questions for me about park hoppers. They are buying the park hoppers on eBay, and their questions were:
1. Could they get totally ripped off by doing this, where the person sells them USED park hoppers?
2. Is there any way that, if they didn't use all of their days on their park hopper, they could sell their tickets to someone else on eBay afterwards?
Any help is much appreciated :)

1. Yes, Definitely! You do not know how many days are truely on the tickets. The person could be lying or not. There could be the amount of days that the person is selling, 1 day, or none.

2. Yes, they could sell the tickets on eBay, but reading the answer to #1 might affect if they do or not.

Solution: Buy a Park Hopper from the Disney Store or over the internet at www.disneyworld.com . After the trip keep the tickets! They last a lifetime. If ythey have one day left on their tickets, the next time they go, they can use that ticket for a day.

Quick little note about Park-Hopper Tickets... It may discourage you from buying them on Ebay. On the back of the ticket, among all the legal mumbo-jumbo, in nice bold red print, are the simple words non-transferable. So, if you ever have a problem with your ticket, Disney doesn't have to help you out. Some park-hopper tickets (most of them, actually) have names attached to the tickets in the Disney database, andif you try to check the days left on the ticket with the wrong name, its a little red flag.

You are best off buying them from reputable dealers (Disney, AAA, Disney Store)

Another vote to avoid buying tickets on Ebay. The seller could give you a ticket with no days left on it and you will not know until it's refused at the park entrance.

Kevin, tell them not to do it. As stated above, you won't know what you are getting until its too late. Tell them to spend the money & hit a reputable dealer. The time & aggravation they'll save is worth the extra $$.
Give them some tips on touring, where to eat & saving money instead.

The only thing I have ever bought on eBay were those meal vouchers, only b/c even if I got screwed over, it wouldn't be a huge loss of money...$300 park tickets are something else, entirely. Furthermore, I have noticed that most park tickets for sale on eBay cost more than you would pay Disney...

It's just far too much money to gamble...even though my mom has gotten some of her tickets over eBay, I always buy mine through Disney.

I havent ever bought my park tickets on Ebay and wouldnt do so because of the reasons listed above. There is truly no way to tell until you get the item in your hand and check it at Guest Relations!! Some places do sell tickets at a modest discount. I know Pam of Kingdom Konsultant use Maple Leaf Tickets for her clients. I know of at least two groups of people who got ticket thru them and had no problem at all. They are a few bucks cheaper than Disney, but you are never going to save a ton of money on tickets. Hope this helps!! Belle

The whole concept of eBay scares me. I know my boss who is a collector of hockey and baseball cards was twice ripped off by a person he was buying cards from on eBay. Only twice of many transactions but as far as I'm concerned, once is too much, not to mention twice.

I've dealt with ebay a few times...for Disney merchandise as well as other stuff. I havn't had any problems, though some people were more professional to deal with than others.
I just wouldn't want to take the chance with WDW tickets.

I'm with everyone that says go with Disney...but if your going to go with ebay...judge the product being sold...if its too good to be true for the value...then it probably is....chances are people won't sell more than one or two days worth....anything more can be a scam (the chances are higher)....just some more thoughts....

Also, if you absolutely must go with eBay, screen out new sellers. If a person has (I forget what they call it there) an "approval rating" greater than 1000 or so, they are probably pretty safe to deal with. It is way too much money to take chances with.
