Park Hopper Work Around, is this allowed?

I am planning a trip to Disney this summer for 7 days for a total of 4 people. I have been to Disney many times and saw the park hopper adds $52 for each person.

It is considerably cheaper to buy a 10 day pass (about $170 cheaper) without a park hopper capability vs a 7 day with a park hopper. Can I use those "extra days" to go to another park?

For example, lets say I have a 10 day pass (non-park hopper). On Monday I go to the Animal Kingdom and when it turns dark I decide I want to go to the Magic Kingdom to watch wishes. Will they just deduct 2 days from my pass or will they not allow me entrance?

You will not be allowed entrance to a second park on the same day if you do not have the Park Hopper Option added on.

Not only will they not let you in that second park without a Park Hopper, a large CM, either George the Brutte or Big Hilda, will come over and squash you.

Get a Park Hopper. Don't go without it.

The only way around this is if you have some old tickets that have extra days. Then you could use a day off the older ticket to get into a second park.

But, depending upon how old the ticket is, it may still be tied to the original owner and you may have to show proof of your identity.

So it really wouldn't work unless all four in your party have old tickets with days left on them.

I've seen Big Hilda... she gave me the eye once when I pushed my rather tall 2 year old through the turnstiles without a ticket!

You've already received very good information. I'll just add some geek details, to make sure you realize there's really no way around it.

If you use your ticket at one park and then try to enter a different park on that same day, the turnstile will not unlock and the green light will not light, and the display will read "access denied." A greeter cast member will come over. On his/her display it will read "crossover not permitted" and will give details about the ticket. They'll know exactly why your ticket was denied, and they'll know it's not just some glitch that you can talk your way around. Sorry.:o

Am I the only one on here who knew exactly what the OP was going to ask based solely on the thread title before even opening the thread?

(Not trying to diss the OP, but it's seriously the #1 most-often asked question regarding park tickets on here...) ;)

There either needs to be a "search" facility where potential posters can research their own question first  OR a Top Ten most popular asked questions link

No. You were not the only one.

Sounds like a great idea. The trick will be getting people to actually read a FAQ.

Thanks for the answers. I actually did a quick look around first before I posted (and a quick search of the forums for something like "tickets hopper vs longer stay") and I even did a google search. I didn't see anything (after a couple minutes) and I thought this would be the quickest way to get an answer. Its not really an easy thing to search for.

And it looks like I was right, the first answer came 1 minute after I posted.

Thanks for all your help!

I know the additional cost of the park hopper option adds up, but I think it is well worth the extra expense, especially on a seven day trip. In order to take advantage of all of the various Extra Magic Hours going on during the week you'll probably want to hop more than once or twice, and I believe the added flexibility makes the extra $52 seem like a no-brainer.

The best advice I've seen on this board about park hoppers is don't add it until you get there if you aren't sure you will be visiting more than one park per day. It's the same cost no matter when you add it, and if you end up not needing it you will have thrown your money away.
