Park CDs - Why so many rereleases?

So, as an ENORMOUS Fantasmic fan who listens to the music constantly (from the WDW version - DL's is okay, but "Look out! Look out! Pachaderms!" makes me laugh a bit), I occasionally look to see if other versions have come out (single edits, etc). I've seen the WDW Fantasmic like 50 times (I was a CP this past spring on top countless trips there), and also, I've seen a 2006 video of Fantasmic from DL (which I WILL BE SEEING IN NOVEMBER FOR THE FIRST TIME WEE YAY!) but not the original with the giant Ursula (which I'd love to get a video of, btw, if anyone has or knows where to find it).

I have this Disneyland version:
0332L.jpg
which is one big track (same as on the Musical History of Disneyland boxed set.
There's the Walt Disney World version:
0855L.jpg
which I also have, including the entire show as separate tracks (one version with sound effects recorded live, and one just the score).
While looking for Fantasmic music/videos, I found this:
11586L.jpg
It seems to have both the WDW and DL versions as one big track, which is lame for the WDW version. I figure they may have released that one to save money and sell the one in both parks, but then again, why buy only one when Disney can make you buy two?
Also I have the Spectromagic soundtrack:
2946L.jpg
with the Genie section, not Roger Rabbit. Is there a full soundtrack?

Also - The best Disney parks music soundtrack I believe I've ever heard is Tokyo Disneysea Music Album - "Lost River" and "Arabian Coast" are so amazing. Anyone else with awesome/interesting soundtrack releases/releases?

EDIT: Holy hell I'm sorry for the size of the images. Oh lord really sorry.

My guess the reason for the re-releases would be money. Some people are more likely to buy another copy if the cover art has changed, regardless of any changes in the substantive content.

For a while, there was a new "Official Album of Walt Disney World" almost yearly, with ever minor changes in the track listings between the albums (some changes, albeit few, were made).

These albums are such a niche product that the best way to sell more of them might be to change the album art, a couple songs, etc., so that the hardcore fans will buy a second or third copy.

As for the SpectroMagic with Roger Rabbit, I have a 7:11 minute version of that from a foreign album (Toyko, I think). There was never a US release of that. I wouldn't be too disappointed, though, the official US release is much better, and longer.

Why so many? You should see what Tokyo has brought out since 1983. American parks have a drought in comparisson. DLP hasn`t done badly either.

Lordy - I've seen some of Tokyo. It's out of control. Just absolutely nutsy. I do find it interesting that there is this market that they're able to do these releases so often. I just wish they'd release more! There's a ton of stuff I don't think there's every been an official release of that I'd love - like, I cannot find an official release of "Remember the Magic" parade. I've got a good quality copy, but still, I don't believe it's official.

Hey KingdomHeart, I'm a park audio junkie and have probably 20+ CD's of JUST park music. Everything from FOLK and Finding Nemo to 4 of the "Forever" CD's and even one of the first ten CD releases by Disney. It's a park soundtrack from like 1987. Doesn't even have Studios on it.

That's awesome. Totally jealous!

We have some cool old park records, which I'm gonna take pictures and upload if anyone wants to see some crazy old stuff, hoping others will join in. :sohappy:

Same here. Have an old vinyl LP from (I think) 1980-1981. Also have the "Disco Duck" LP. (I know it's not park music but just thought you'd find it funny.
