Paris anyone?

Hey everyone!
Just wondering if anyone has ever been to Paris? My husband and I are thinking of going for our 1 year anniversary, but don't have the slightest idea of where to stay, etc. We wanted to do something special for our first year, especially since my husband has not been in the US since our marriage almost 1 year ago, thanks to our country's wonderful immigration process (but that's another story).
Since Disney is out since he's not allowed in the country, I thought maybe we'd pursue my dream of one day seeing the Eiffel tower. Anyone have any experiences or advice to share? I want to do the obvious things like the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Versailles, etc. but we wanted some first hand accounts of experiences. Thanks! :wave:

I don't know how I missed Disney Paris on the things I listed, but that is #2 behind the Eiffel Tower. But, it's not WDW. It's not the same for some reason :lol:

ive been to paris many a time and the best place to stay is any were in and around the latin quater there.

When we go to Paris we stay at one of the Disneyland Paris resorts and take the train into the city. The train ride is about 30 minutes or so.

I completely agree - stay in the Latin quarter. The food in Paris is amazing - a lot more variety that I would have guessed. If you're at all like me you should plan AT LEAST a day and a half at the Louvre. If you're a fan of impressionism visit the Musee d' Orsset (I'm probably spelling that wrong). Parisian transportation is wonderful. The buses and the underground are rather simple to understand and use.

Other MUST sees are:
The Eiffel Tower & Arc (of course)
Versailles - my FAVORITE
Rodin museum - surprisingly, The Thinker is actually outside - it was odd to see it being rained upon...
Notre Dame

Thanks for the replies everyone! Funny enough, I showed all my research of a trip to my husband yesterday and he is kinda on the fence about going! He said "why don't we just wait till we can go back to wdw?"....I thought I was the one suppsed to be obsessed with WDW! :lol: I'm going to do my best to convince him since I think this may be a once in a lifetime chance of going before we start a family.

A few questions though...
1. are the hotels around Disneyland Paris less than around inner city?
2. what exactly qualifies as the latin quarter?
3. should we stick with more "americanized" hotels like holiday inn, marriott, etc?

#1 - not sure - i've only stayed in Paris

#2 - the Latin Quarter is where the Sorbonne is located. Actually, I believe it is called the Latin Quarter b/c Latin was the language the Sorbonne University scholars would speak. Since the university is there, it's more "trendy" I guess you could say. It always seemed like there was more to do arounf there. If I remember correctly it's pretty much south of Notre Dame...:veryconfu All of Paris is split up into smaller districts - the Latin Quarter is one of those.

#3 - To be honest, if you go with an "Americanized" hotel in downtown Paris, it still won't be like the hotels you're used to. Rooms are a lot smaller. Some people don't like them, I think it adds to the European-ness of the trip. One thing you may want to specify when making a room reservation is that you get a bathroom in your room with a shower head. Some just have the tubs.
