Hi everyone! Have not been on here alot lately. Life has been busy around here. Just wanted to share my joy that I get to go to DW this year. :sohappy: We thought for sure we were going to have to skip this year but we lucked out and I am so excited! :sohappy:
This trip will strictly be for the hubby and I. NO KIDS! :lookaroun:D Sorry but we have not had a trip alone together in years and since we will both be graduating from college (years of night school for hubby and a short certification class for me), and hopefully begining new careers soon we decided to do a quick weekend trip alone. The grandparents were nice enough to offer to take the kids. (they live on a lake with a boat and jet skies-I did not have too much trouble talking my oldest into going there-my five year old well shhhhhh. The presents we bring back should make him happy ).

Ok our trip will be July 30th-Aug 2nd and we will be staying at the Boardwalk Inn for the first time. I love the Boardwalk area and for our next family trip, which will hopefully take place in March or October of 2011, we will be staying at the Beach Club because we promised our daughter. She wants to enjoy the pool there. With the military discount we were able to get a standard room at a good price.
Anyone stay here recently? We have stayed at the Yacht Club before so we know the area but never at Boardwalk. Really excited. :sohappy:

My dining reservations are what I am most excited about I think. I was able to get us a resv for lunch at LE CELLIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sohappy::sohappy: We have never eaten there and have tried so many times to get in.
We also have a dinner at Kona, dinner at Cape May, breakfast at Kouzzina and a dinner at Cap'n Jacks. Have any of you had breakfast at Kouzzina's or dinner at Cap'n Jacks? These will be new experiences for us and I am very curious about them. Or does anyone have any suggestions of better places? We actually may end up cancelling some and just eating quick service. $$ will determine that but Le Cellier will be the main one we keep.
So the countdown has begun for a parents only trip!! I will say that part of me feels guilty :( for not bringing our kids but we plan on taking them somewhere we can drive to before the summer is over.
Just had to share my joy about our trip and I will share more when we return along with pics.
Any dining ideas or touring plans would be appreciated. Thinking of trying the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Is this worth the money?
Thanks for the help and HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!

We stayed at the Boardwalk last January and just loved it! You will be so close to Epcot and all of the surrounding resorts. It was fun wandering around to each of them. We enjoyed the Boardwalk at night with all of the street performers, restaurants etc. and had a fantastic view from our balcony of Illuminations. I have a feeling that you'll have a great time!

Anyone else? :(
Also after a long discussion last night I believe we have decided to cancel Cap'n Jacks and Kouzzina's. We are trying not to spend all of our money on food this time. So any good quick services locations anyone could recommend would be great. Places where we can get things besides hamburgers? Thanks.

I'm so excited that YOU'RE so excited! :) You deserve some time to be a couple - don't feel guilty. Remember what they say - to have a healthy family, you have to have a healthy marriage...and what's healthier for a marriage than a trip to WDW????!!!

Keep this in mind about your reservations:

Le Cellier - expensive, delicious, and worth it, in my opinion.

The rest: Counter Service Meals, with a main entree (i.e. burger), extra (fries) and a drink (Coke), your meal might be around $10-$12. MANY restaurants (especially for lunch) have meals that are the same price.

If you're trying to save, but want to enjoy some sit down meals, I'd keep Le Cellier, and give The Plaza (in Magic Kingdom - sit down, sandwiches, etc. - quite cheap), the Grand Floridian Cafe (cheap) and even places like the Sci Fi Diner in DHS a try. In each of those, you'll find meals for under $15 per person - you two deserve it!

We're trying Kouzzina's for the first time in August. But as it's breakfast, at the most it's going to cost you about $25...I've attached allears.net's dining menus section in case you haven't seen it. It lists the prices as well.

Some good counter service's: Columbia Harbor House in MK, Casey's Corner (just hotdogs but quite good :) in MK, Earl of Sandwich in DTD, and Starring Rolls Cafe in DHS.

Have fun!!!! :)

PS. Never tried Captain Jack's, but maybe trying to eat at one Table Service restaurant per day and one counter service might be a good idea - that way you get the best of both worlds!

Another suggestion for potentially saving money (provided this does not make you bust a gut), is consider going for 2 meals with a snack or two in the middle - just a bagel and fruit for breakfast followed by a hearty lunch, or a hearty breakfast followed by something smaller (maybe even something the two of you can share) for lunch.

Fresh, which will be within walking distance from the Boardwalk (at the Dolphin) has a buffet breakfast for 18 dollars which, while a buffet, still seems to be predominately made to order.

I've had lunch at the Tusker House at AK. It's 1/3rd cheaper to eat there for lunch than it is for dinner and quite tasty, often comparable to Boma at AKL (though Boma does not serve lunch)

Thanks for the info. I was pricing things on allears too. I was also thinking of trying Harbor House and Caseys this trip. We have never been to either one and I have heard good things. And you are right, a trip alone to DW will be good for hubby and I. Have a great day!

I was looking at the places at the Swan and Dolphin. Thanks for that info. That would be something new. I have never been to them and I actually tried to get us a room there but they were booked.
Lunch at Tusker House sounds good too and we will be at AK around that time. Thanks.

Ok I try and do one new ride every trip because I am kind of a chicken.
Which one should I do this trip?
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Tower of Terror
Dinosaur
Expedition Everest
I have done all other rides in the park, but like I said, I am a really big chicken. But at the age of 42 I am trying to get over my fear so I can enjoy more things with my kids. This is a good time to try because if I freak out my kids won't see it. :ROFLOL:

Splash Mt. is my absolute favorite. And there's not a scary part to be had...well, save the 52 foot drop. :lookaroun Space Mt. in the dark might make you nervous, as might Exp. Everest with going backwards. ToT - you don't know when the drop is coming, or how many times - might be a little nerve-wracking. And Dinosaur...well I keep my eyes closed and scream for 60% of the ride, so I couldn't tell you...... I say go with Splash!

 Yes that drop on Splash is what has kept me from doing it. I will be brave though. Or try anyway. :lookaroun Splash and Space Mountain are my top two choices. Dinosaur even freaked my husband out and he rides anything. That is not so high on the list.
Thanks. Hopefully I will come back with at least one more under my belt.

Way to be brave! :sohappy: (We took my Aunt, who we thought was just a chicken, on the ride. Turns out her Vertigo is so terrible, she was sobbing after the drop. Not because she was scared - but because she was going to throw up. My mom and I felt AWFUL. But after she felt better, she said she loved the rest of the ride!)

In exactly two weeks from today I will be at DW! :sohappy: I just got a new camera that will hopefully take great pics so that I can add to this TR when I get back. I finally have our military park tickets, room is paid for, got plane tickets and received our Magical Express tags. I am so ready! :sohappy:
