Paranormal Activity Thread

OH! Here's an epic fail! I thought it was all about actual paranormal activity, but failed to realize it's about the film!

:brick::lol:

It actually looks interesting. How scary is it?

The movie is pretty scary. It relies on atmosphere, not jump moments. (although the end has a great jump moment, my friend flew out of his seat)

If ghosts frighten you, this movie will definitely have you nervous. ;)

Loved it.
Very creepy. Whenever night fell and they went to the night-vision shot, you could almost feel the entire theatre tense up.

Although I must say I hated the ending. There were two previous endings that were shown at various festivals that were much more effective and less "Hollywood."

I read about those and I must say, they seemed anti-climactic. The audience seemed to react great towards this ending.

Everyone left with the feeling of "Oh, S**t"

I disagree.
One of those two endings would have been very disturbing and creepy. The film really didn't need a cgi "boo" at the end, and the whole "still at large" nonsense.
Didn't feel true to the rest of the film.

Yes but it would have been like Jaws if the shark didn't blow up at the end.

:lookaroun (if that makes any sense)

I don't get what you're saying.
The ending we have now is like the shark got away after eating Brody and Hooper and is now still "at large" in the sea somewhere.

 Yeah but it really completes the film with a big scare. If the other endings had been used, the film would feel like it needed something more.

I do agree that the title card wasn't necessary but the rest was.

We'll agree to disagree then.
I'll take a creepy "oooooohhhh" over a big "boo" any day.
That one ending would have kept me up for a while.....:lookaroun

 Okay. It's just, for me, this really helped the film up. It was becoming slow at points early on. (and the fairly short run-time)

Also, one major complaint I had was the fact that some great tension moments were cut short when the camera switched to the morning.

Granted. The editing was a bit odd....but I guess that was to increase the feeling of it being found footage from a video camera. Can't have it be perfect, I guess.

 True.

One thing that I really loved was that strange electronic hum every-time the ghost was near.:lookaroun

Loved it! Very creepy and scary. Finally a horror movie that doesn't rely on over the top SFX and gore. Plus I love how they took a lot of notes from Ghost Adventures and TAPS, Destination Truth, etc. it really added a level of realism to the movie.

Agreed, it sort of worked like the Jaws theme.
