Paint The Night Rumors!!!!!!!!

I can not understand how something like a parade or nighttime lighting(Lights of Winter) can become OBSOLETE!?

I've always been angry about the demise of the Lights of Winter. The story was that the lighting controller broke, and was so old that there were no parts to fix it. I never bought that - if they wanted to bring it back, it would have been relatively easy (and cheap!) to string new lights to the frames, and use any modern lighting controller to run the show. But no, Disney just didn't want to do it. Whether it was a logistical reason or budget or something else, they decided to dis-continue it, and came up with a cover story. Very bad show!

I have never enjoyed MSEP. This 'sound' just irritates me. I would rather listen to a fingernail scratching a classroom board (if such things are even used now) than to hear the synthesized sounds in this parade. Spectromagic was my favorite, but many new characters have eclipsed some of those in Spectro. I can't imagine what it would take to create a Magic Kingdom night parade that would incorporate so many Disney favorites.
For some reason, every time the music starts up it brings me a smile.

There's no word on the music because there's no light parade in development for WDW at present. If there is, it's blue sky and confined to WDI's offices in Glendale - certainly nothing that would spill over to frontline CMs in Orlando. This is a wishful thinking rumor.

Well, there's that.

@GiveMeTheMusic knows what he's talking about, gang.

Someone run down to Home Depot for another bail of chicken-wire and some unsold Christmas lights, the MSEP will need to stick around for another few years.

Paint the Night would fit great in DHS for now. It would be something to get people into the park with so many things closing. Several people I know who are going to WDW soon have said they plan on skipping DHS all together because of so many closures.

Add Star Wars to the parade.

Its a wishful fetish among the CP crowd to be exact. I've heard this 'rumor' from different people over the last few months and it truly grates my ears.

True. It's likely just wishful thinking from a generation of college kids who are embarrassed at the current level of tech and non-sophistication of the chicken-wire parade that can't keep all its Christmas lights on.

But anyone working in a theme park wearing a polyester uniform and a name tag has absolutely no knowledge of the strategic plans for said theme park.

You can also add into that group those CM's "managers" who wander the park in cheap Dockers and barely ironed drip-dry shirts, clanging with tacky pin lanyards and walkie-talkies and those trash picker upper things. That level of theme park supervision has no ability to impact the real decision makers, nor do the decision makers let that lowest level operations manager know about their strategic plans until the day it posts on the Disney Parks Blog.

Last night I watched it from frontier land from one of the narrowest points of the route and I got a good look at all these units. I was so close I could see the plywood and the old hinges for all the doors for the wiring. It really showed how old this parade really is. Besides the flag breaking down it was one of the smoothest performances I have ever seen and everything was out.
I too watched this from a very close view a few weeks ago and was looking the floats over to see how they were actually looking under the lights. They aren't in that bad of shape for a classic. I personally like MSEP, but I also really like Spectro. As long as there is a nighttime parade, I am happy. I still hope that someday they'll bring back an afternoon parade at AK and HS, but am sure they won't. It's a shame.

I love the music for MSEP
Me too! It's my ringtone! :p
But - I miss Spectromagic so much. I could listen to that over and over again.
The PTN music sounds like a mush between a sped-up version of MSEP and a song I heard in the Move it - Shake it - scream it so everyone sitting at Casey's needs earplugs - too much reality in my fantasy world Parade (is that the new name? I forgot...;))

I actually think Spectromagic might have the best music of any Disney parade ever. Plus it is an WDW original. I would love to see it come back for the 50th, or before!

Still Paint the Night is pretty awesome.

I like how Spectro & even the daytime Disney Dreams Come True parade had one theme - not a mix of different songs. PTN has the theme song in between different Disney songs so there's some connection, but the individual songs end and then the parade CMs pose and stop for applause and then the parade continues. I like parades that are parades, I guess. They had one big stop like that in the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade and then stopped doing the stop in the hub and left it as a parade. I guess that's why I'm not a huge fan of the new FoF parade either. I miss the one "catchy" parade tune. That's just me. I guess "whatever floats your boat" (or your parade float in this case).

WDW just needs it's own unique nighttime parade in the same vein as Ptn but one that fits WDW. I love Ptn because it's modern and fresh and just fits DL perfectly. It would work in WDW, but I just prefer they get something new and original. Is it really that hard for them to make something new? I know they rely so heavily on the first time visitors that they don't need to update as much as DL, but they still have a fair share of people who've been many times and deserve to hear new music and see a new parade.

What is wrong with paint the night? I hate clones and I'd be completely ok with it at WDW, and I'm not a fan of the MK night parade. Paint the night is basically a massively upgraded version of it.

What is wrong with paint the night?

Paint The Night is a fresh, visually stunning and artistically impressive parade using a broad range of popular characters from Disney's and Pixar's biggest hits of the last 15 years, plus a stable of classic characters from the Walt Disney era of the 1930's to 1950's. It had a big budget and was plussed up with extra floats and performers for the Anaheim version compared to Hong Kong. It uses music composed in this decade and technology created in this decade. And it's a huge hit with audiences at Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom of Disneyland.

Those things automatically disqualify it with some folks from being an option at WDW.

How is the music choppy? The characters are all ones they use in the parks. What characters should they use?
PTN mostly features modern Disney characters created during the 21th century with the exception of Cinderella,Belle,Ariel, and Mickey And Friends. It's most notable for not featuring any presence of other Disney characters like Pinocchio or Alice In Wonderland usually present in other Disney Nighttime parades like Spectromagic,MSEP, and Dream lights which has a very great choice of characters to be featured.

Thats just it, it never has a full smooth parade anymore. something is always down or breaks or lights go out. Disney is running it till one float is left
