On Disneyworld's 2009 vacation packages, this is listed as a benefit:

Your Purchases Delivered to Your Room
Shop at select Disney stores throughout the Walt Disney World Resort and have your purchases delivered right to your room so you can be free to play without lugging packages and souvenirs around!

I was wondering if Disney has started (going to start) shipping packages directly to rooms now? Sorry if this has been recently discussed, I did some searching and couldn't find anything. If anyone knows whether this is just a typo or if it's actually viable, I'd love to know! Thanks!

Haven't they always advertised it as "to your room" rather than "hotel's gift shop"? It'd be real nice if they actually go to your room now.

They will ship your packages back to your hotel if you stay on Disney property. The only catch, if you call it that, is you have to allow 24 hours. It is an awesome perk, i must say. You walk in your room and there are your packages, on your bed. Don't have to lug the stuff around. Take advantage of it. They give you a receipt and all. Very reliable, awesome perk.

You only get packages delivered to your room if you are staying Concierge.

If you don't stay concierge then the packages are delivered to one of your Resorts gift shops.

I remember for our wedding our packages were in our room, it was concierge level though. When we stayed at Pop we had to go and pick them up at the gift shop.

Best to shop early in your trip and send them to the hotel, then you can be sure to have them in time for you to leave.

Alright, I guess I got my hopes up. It was nice when they delivered packages directly to your room, but with price cuts and everything, this is a very understandable cut that will probably never come back I guess. Thanks for all the information!

Its nothing to do with price cuts - its because some cheating "guests" would take delivery of their packages in their rooms and then claim stuff was missing - Disney had no option but to replace the missing item so the "guest" paid once and got double goods

I wonder if a tracking system like the DME luggage system would work. The barcodes on the tags are scanned multiple times along the way so that missing luggage can be traced. They could implement something like that for Package Delivery. Simply print the form's serial number as a barcode and use that.

It's sad that services like this get abused because one day Disney might take the whole thing away because of cheating guests and everyone will suffer. Then good guests will ask why that service is not there anymore.
I feel like its the same thing that happened with buses to DTD from the parks. DTD does not have a bus that goes to any park and vice versa because guests were parking at DTD and taking the bus to the parks. Therefore filling parking spaces all day at DTD, leaving no room for actual DTD guests.:(

They still do it, only now they take the bus that goes to the Contemporary Resort, then walk or take the Monorail to The Magic Kingdom.

Cheaters will always find a way to cheat.

they have always shipped right to your resort for at least the last ten years--when they first started doing it they put the stuff right in your room now you have to pick up at the gift shop--sure is nice no matter what to not have to lug around all your purchases

I too remember when they did this for everyone and not concierge. But it's an understandable change. The current way is still a great perk for staying on property, as long as your room isn't on the far end from the lobby. lol

We stayed at Shades of Green. We had packages and photos sent to our resort in October (giftshop/AAFES). It was really nice not having to worry about bending/wrecking our photos from ToT and RRC!!
Not exactly Disney but that benefit is extended to SOG guests too.

I loved picking up packages at the gift shop at POFQ. I showed the CM's ladies what we had bought! They gave me beads to wear. A good time was had by all.
