I've seen very limited information about it, I definitely plan on looking into it more. I think it will definitely be a fun movie! I hope it doesn't dissapoint.

Seen the trailers,

All the talk about movies in theme parks, this "Oz the Great and Powerful" movie looks to me if it doesn't let me down going to be one of the most "magical" movies I seen it years.

Have you seen the trailers?
Looking forward to the movies?

I don't know. I like the idea behind it, but I'm always very wary when it comes to movies using CG/green screen tech so prominently. And financially, the odds are against it. The budget was reduced to about $200 million. It has a lot of walking to do to recoup that investment.

However, The Wizard of Oz has a HUGE following. If ever there was an energized fanbase, this would be it...

I agree, the idea I do like but the trailers just haven't done it for me. You might be right with the too much CG, it looks to me like a lot more show than substance. I do hope that is not the case but I guess we will find out in March.

Indeed. I was trying to be less negative, but there is simply too much working against it to NOT mention all of that.

Most recently, Steven Spielberg's massive Lincoln was released by Disney (Touchstone) on 2,200 screens. At present, its domestic cume is $173 million. Even Toy Story didn't break $200m.

It looks pretty great. Granted they may have a lot to do with the visuals, which are 90% of what you pick up in a trailer. But between Oz, Lone Ranger, Iron Man 3 and Frozen, it sounds like 2013 may be a pretty great year for Disney's movie slate.

Personally I'm not a big fan of creating prequels decades after the original film was released and almost always the remake/prequel/sequel is a let down, but I do enjoy the original so I am cautiously optimistic that it will be good.

Working for Disney Stores, we received our shipment of merchandise for Oz, and it kinda spoiled the entire story line. I was looking forward to it a lot, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it.

I don't remember a little flying thing with bug eyes and pointy teeth being in any of Baum's Oz books. There were lots of other, better creatures though. WHICH OF COURSE ARE NOT IN THIS FILM. Fooey.

Frankly, Disney's Oz looks like Tim Burton's Wonderland. I have grave doubts about it.

While the trailers & previews do look promising, I am a bit skeptical due to my huge disappointment with Alice In Wonderland. Will have to wait and see when it comes out.

I heard a rumor that when Oz grows up to be an older gentleman, he ends up helping a little girl, a cowardly lion, a scarecrow, and a tin man. But not to spoil anything...

I am looking forward to this movie more than MOST movies that I have looked forward to in the past 10-20 years. Nothing now a days looks all that promising but this on the other hand looks amazing. Rarely do I get chills from seeing a really good preview. I do with this one. Just hoping seeing the movie itself with take the same effect. :)
