I REALLY wanted to like this movie. Love Oz the books, the original movie, Return to Oz - love it all!

Something' about this movie really bothered me. It was too CG. It just looked fake and plastic. Other movies with just as much CG don't feel that way to me.

I few more practical thing in the forerground could have helped a lot.

Also I didn't feel emotionally connected with Oz or the Witch of the West. Really on guy rejects you are you turn crazy evil? The whole Oz /Glinda romance - yuck!

Also why do the never show the 4th which of Oz? Poor thing is always being cut out.

Probably because a lot of the CGI in OZ was lousy.
Check out this clip and watch for the horse walking down the hill in the background at 0:30.
That's got to be some of the worst computer animation ever put on the big screen.

I have the art of book and it has lots of pictures of the 30+ sets they built for this movie. Wonderful details, even in the forests, but the CGI muddles they're own work and makes it hard to fully appreciate at times.

Robert Downey Jr. was supposed to be the wizard?

No. Just no. I LOVE Robert Downey Jr., but that just doesn't seem like a good role for him. To me, he is and always will be Tony Stark. :D

Even when he's Sherlock Holmes?

Or this guy?

HA! Did you notice the two horses in the middle (eating) are the exact same models and are even animated with the same movements? They just duplicated the same horse right next to each other and didn't even bother to change the animation!

Hilarious!

Oh my! I'd never noticed that, and I've seen the movie quite a few times.

Regardless, I really enjoyed the movie. And I love that monkey. "Can you cry? I can cut up an onion!"
