Owner's Locker?

Owner's Locker is awesome! We used their service a couple of times, but cancelled our membership (or whatever they call it) after my husband got laid off in 2009. We see lots & lots of purple totes at the resorts each trip. When we first signed up they delivered an empty tote to our resort, which we filled up and then left with bell services when we checked out. Upon our return they delivered our full tote to the resort and it was delivered with our luggage by bell services. When we cancelled they told us we could keep the tote (luckily my FIL was in Orlando with his truck the same we we were there as he drove it home for us). I use it now to keep our "Disney" stuff in (ponchos, lanyards, anything that usually only get used at Disney that I want all together for packing). Now that DH is working again and we're looking at more regular trips to Disney I'm seriously considering joining again.

I never got into it. I just don't see the need for it with the way I travel.

I had mentioned that somewhere else on a board the owner of the company is a member of. He and I had a long back and forth conversation about it's uses.

While in the end I decided it was not for me, if this guy runs his company in the same friendly manner he "talks" to people, I would recommend them.

Great guy to talk to and not a hard sell. I can see for people who like to cook in rooms or who bring along a load of items, it would be very usefull.

I totally agree it's not useful for everyone. We used it for ponchos, our white noise machine, some toiletries (deodorant, tooth brushes, hairbrush, and things that won't go bad). Mostly all the "little stuff" that ads up to a bulky (and possibly over the weight limit) suitcase!

Dave is right, the owner (I can't for the life of me remember his name) was totally awesome to work with when we had to cancel.

Owner's Locker is a 21st century version of the "Owner's Closet" found in many traditional timeshares a decade or so ago.

The old traditional timeshare model involved renting the same week(s) in the same villa room year-after-year. Due to the recurrence involved, many timeshares created an "Owner's Closet" which gave each owner a small storage space for items that they didn't want to have to transport back-and-forth each time.

Owner's Locker follows the same concept. Each customer has his/her personal storage tub. The tubs are delivered to the resort at the start of a trip and picked-up afterward. Each owner seals his own tub for security purposes. Between visits they are stored in a climate controlled facility. Text messages and emails are used to update folks on the exact location of their Locker throughout the process.

It's a great way to save on luggage fees, avoid packing and re-packing the same items over and over again, have a place to store some leftovers which would have otherwise been thrown away, and so on.

Here are a few things off the top of my head stored currently stored in our locker:

* Wireless Internet router
* A couple small boxes of cereal
* Partial bottle of laundry detergent
* First aid supplies, mending kit
* Wife's hair care items (curling iron, etc.)
* Rain ponchos
* Lanyards, spare pin backs
* Ziploc bags (always handy to have)
* Popcorn, vegetable oil
* Our own bed sheets

Just a lot of stuff that we use ever trip, don't want to transport each time, don't need to use between trip and stuff that we would have been forced to throw away after a trip if we didn't have a place to store it.

At worst I tend to think that Owner's Locker pays for itself via deferred luggage fees and other savings. And it's a great convenience.

We've had it for a few years now and love it, even my DH who was skeptical is sold on it. We leave items like those listed above, in agusut also left unpened wine, crackers and such - we're going down in february. DH and I each ahve two sets of clothes in it and a bathing suit

This allows us at times to make carryon luggage only trips which save those baggage fees. We're doing that in february when we take our twins DS and DD12.

Wish we had done it earlier than we did. And I swear last trip our locker was back as ME pulled out of the world. They are fast and efficeint

I'd be more tempted to use Owners' Locker if we didn't usually drive down. Flying, yeah, we'd use them. Even if our trips were infrequent enough that we didn't "save money" on baggage fees, just having less to worry about packing would be great.

I think the question for me would be, what DON'T I keep in my locker. Holy cow - I feel bad for the guys that have to move it. We've got it packed to the gills! We have our typical toiletry stuff - full size shampoo & conditioner, razors, toothbrushes, etc, but we also keep a brita pitcher and filters so we don't have to drink the nasty FL water. Also, we keep our kitchen stuff that's not included with the villa. A nice knife, a griddle pan (flat for pancakes), BIG coffee mugs, etc. We also have things like ziploc bags, extension cords, chargers, plastic wrap, Laundry bag and 3 in 1 laundry sheets, scissors, super glue, umbrellas, ponchos, gloves (for those Dec - Feb trips), hot hands, popup hamper, jack knife, salt & pepper, etc. I wanted to pack things that we may need in case we stay in a studio or have some kind of emergency (bandaids, neosporin, moleskin, gauze, etc). I'm actually in need of another locker - maybe this year. I LOVE MY LOCKER!!! :D
