Overeatting at WDW

I leave June 2nd :sohappy:

I know I'm going to spend more on food than anything. I just want a cute bag and an umbrella as far as souvenirs go.

But I find myself wanting everything I see someone eatting or whatever smells good and the last thing on my mind when I eat anything there is calories. You burn most of the calories from all the walking anyway!

Do you find yourself overeatting while at WDW? how much cash do you spend in a day?

1st thing I want : A FUNNEL CAKE!! :)

I'll probably have one everyday I'm there!!

Yes, I tend to overeat at WDW. And I still don't eat anywhere near as much as is provided by the DDP!

I just assume I'm going to put on weight while I'm there and accept it.

You can indulge and still make good choices. I don't count WW points while at WDW because I'm on vacation. However, I try to make sure I meet my other healthy guidelines like veggie/fruit intake, water, dairy, etc... You'll most likely do a lot of walking and get in some serious exercise, too. Indulging at WDW doesn't mean you will wreck any diets or healthy eating habits you have normally. Just make good choices! :) I often find my body lets me know if I've had too much junk. I literally will crave broccoli or carrots if I haven't had what my body considers enough good foods. I also find that while the chocolate coated Mickey ice cream looks good that a Minnie's strawberry bar, popsicle, or frozen lemonade is much more satisfying and has quite a few less calories.

Sleepy Hollow @ Magic is great!!! and then theres the place at Epcot's world showcase. I hate that they dont sale them at all the parks :-(

If my cravings are that bad I'll buy the kit and make them at home :)

The last time I was there the funnel cakes at Epcot were sold at the American Adventure.

As to the overeating question, actually, we don't usually. I find the Disney portions generally to be enough to keep me going without having to get the second burger for lunch or dinner or the 'second helping' of desert or whatever.

But I also don't focus very much on how much I'm eating, either. I'm on vacation :) (I can always walk an extra 3 miles a day when I get home :)

I fell in love with the strawberry bars last trip. I love the cookie ice cream sandwiches, but I only had one the entire trip, and that was more than enough after I disovered the strawberry bars :slurp:

I eat a lot at WDW. If I were at home and ate that much, I would definitely gain weight. However, I never seem to do so at WDW. I chalk that up to continuing my usual exercise regimen, with all the added walking around the parks burning up the extra calories.

My eating habits at wdw are worse but my activity level is much higher, so it balances out! I also eat fewer meals there, probably one big meal with several snacks throughout the day. With all the walking, I think I usually break even. Even some of the healthier options aren't so bad. They definitely have much more variety now and people don't have an excuse to not eat healthy. But as I see it, it's vacation, I'm SUPPOSED to eat my weight in Dole Whip! :ROFLOL:

Favorite places to splurge:
Dole Whip (on a 7 day trip, average of 4 or 5 consumed)
Casey's (Only hot dog I will eat all year...get it with the CHEESE)
Fish n Chips in England (mmmm greasy goodness)
Grand Marnier slush in France (now if they could just get the crepes right)

Places I plan to try on the next trip:
Boma (always hear good things about the zebra domes!)
homemade ice cream cookie sandwich (they still have these right? on main st?)

Do I overeat at WDW? Yup. Do I feel bad about it? Not in the least.

A) I'm on vacation, and that's a time to have fun.
B) I walk, on average, between 9 and 13 miles each day at the world, so I'm convinced that I burn off enough of the calories that it's a wash.

I was actually very surprised my last Disney trip in December, I worked really hard to lose 15 lbs before I left and was very concerned about gaining it back from the mass amounts of food on the dining plan. I was blown away when I got back home and hopped on the scale, I did not gain a pound! Must have been all the walking!

I always end up putting on 5-7lbs during a 2 week trip! I do LESS exercise than normal at WDW as I am a very busy dance teacher, the theme park walking still doesn't equate to what I normally do.

This year, however, I am determined to not put on as much. I always loose the extra weight once I get back to work but for a while my jeans don't fit!!

I gained something like 10 pounds in 10 days last year on the DDP and enjoyed EVERY minute of it :ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

This year, however, I've had weight loss surgery (lap band) and won't be able to eat AS much, but I'm not gonna  If I gain weight. That's what vacations are for!!!

I ALWAYS eat way too much when I'm at the World, and I've been there over 100 times.

...Although, I am 6"1 and 130 lbs...
