Nice to see the blend in the new exhibit. Well done.
I'd doubt the Moroccan government would allow it anyway. I agree with you though. It's surprisingly well done.I was very nervous about this overlay, but this exhibit seems very tasteful and well done. In the spirit of Epcot it combines education and entertainment; it weaves subtle and not so subtle advertising with real historic objects, and artifacts. It connects these items to facets of Norwegian Culture. I can see this staying far past the film’s release. Updating exhibits like this works very well, that said I'm not jumping on any bandwagon's to overlay morocco as Aladdin.
Holy crap. They didn't ruin Norway.
Stave Church Exhibit is now open. It's definitely a lot more tasteful then what we were panicking over. The cultural influences on the film come first.
Isn't there still some Hunchback of Notre Dame stuff in the holding area gallery?I suppose it'd be like seeing a "making of Beauty and the Beast" movie instead of Impressions de France, not to say it couldn't be done tastefully or accurately, just that the new focus would take some getting used to.
Hey, they already did a lot of Damage with Akershus.... Please don't make me scared about Maelstrom...Give them time ...
And don't forget, a new Norway film as well...I was banging my chest with woe and sobbing over the loss of the Viking exhibit and how horrible a princess commercial for the new blah movie would be.......then WHAM! Did not see it coming.
The new exhibit looks interesting and I hope it will be open when we go next...and NOW I want to see the movie, I wasn't sure about it before...
The new display might not be about Vikings,
but might actually display more info about Norway then before, so OK....
now if they can build a new Viking Ship playground.....

It's called Drunkytown not DrunkyLAND.So how much longer before EC is just a MK annex? Ugh.
I went inside the Stave church yesterday. While I admit that for a shoehorned film tie-in it was tastefully done, it was still a little strange seeing a Disney film so prominently featured in what used to be devoted exclusively to international culture. I suppose it'd be like seeing a "making of Beauty and the Beast" movie instead of Impressions de France, not to say it couldn't be done tastefully or accurately, just that the new focus would take some getting used to.
For what I'm sure the Imagineers were instructed to do, they did a fine job with it. It's more that someone found this necessary that I find disappointing.
This new exhibit is not bad (certainly not as bad as it could have been), but that still doesn't make it right.
Thanks, JerseyDad, from another "Jersey Dad"! Your mention of Gjetost sent me to Google, and just ordered some. I have never had it, but it sounds great!.....agreed!! Absolutely delicious food!! Authentic ...with a flair ...like poached cod with the shoestring sliced carrots & leeks and horseradish mashed potatoes ....or the braised lamb with cabbage and the herb oil ....the salmon was delish too!!
....they also had ...for dessert ...BIG cookies that the kids could "paint" with colored frostings and chocolate sauce
...the cold buffet is where I was introduced to Gjetost cheese ...which I love to this day.
....of course that was when I was there back in 2004 & 2005
It's a theme park exhibit; I think throwing around terms like "right" and "wrong" may be a tad overdramatic for what's been done here.
