Out with the Vikings, in with princess

You know, when I brought up Scotland in another thread, everyone jumped on me. "It's not a separate country." I just can't win.

As far as Minnesota goes, I was going to quote Michael J. Nelson, but I can't remember how it goes, and I can't find it right at the moment.

At BG-Williamsburg England and Scotland are separate "countries."

Scotland is part of the UK, so it would be represented twice at Epcot unless the UK pavilion were re-named England. Scotland has its own parliament, but it is not a UN member and can't do things like declare wars or sign international treaties. But it's possible that could all change.

He/she walked through seeing only $$$$$ instead of what was meant to be or proper theming. Its on the trend of becoming the Princess Pavilion. I wish Norway could reach a new deal with Disney to save it, but I think this is how Disney wants it, so they can do what they want. The fact that Disney wouldnt even accept a free new movie for the theater as part of a new deals says a lot!!!

What concerns me is more pavilions following Norway changes to bring in more foot traffic back there.

Yeah, that's... not cool. You can say, "Oh, but Magic Kingdom (or wherever) has plenty of stuff for that audience", but the fact is, I think each and every park should at least try to be as inclusive as possible. I know about the old saw about pleasing everyone, but there is still educational stuff to be found at EPCOT, and I can't begrudge them putting in some stuff for the kids, especially if there's a way to stealthily expose them to some culture at the same time.

Epcot was the park that was supposed to be the non-fiction park, that's why face or fur characters don't make any sense* there for me.
Why don't they just replace everything with girls in a costume for 10 bucks an hour answering questions about their dress, hair and fictional back-story. Guests don't want some stuffy old building that has historical relevance, cultural meaning or educational value, those boring things don't move any merchandise. Surveys say we want fiction and sugary sweet candy.

* Edit: I'm not against characters per se, just felt some outrage over nudging out something educational to push the latest film at Epcot. Figment is an exception to me because he personifies an abstract concept, Imagination, and I guess I liked Figment in his original form, with the DreamFinder. Though they're fictional they brought an abstract concept to life.

I was very nervous about this overlay, but this exhibit seems very tasteful and well done. In the spirit of Epcot it combines education and entertainment; it weaves subtle and not so subtle advertising with real historic objects, and artifacts. It connects these items to facets of Norwegian Culture. I can see this staying far past the film’s release. Updating exhibits like this works very well, that said I'm not jumping on any bandwagon's to overlay morocco as Aladdin.
