Out of all the attractions to close

They have Journey into Imagination, Universe of Energy and the pick out of the 3 to go was Wonders of Life. How stupid are they, that ride drew the most people out of the 3, probably more the Mission Space and it was the one Future World pavilion that could probably keep up with the times.

Bodywars was a supreme example of cohesive theming and storytelling, much like The Living Seas (and Wonders wasn't an attraction, it was a pavilion BTW)

It became dated as most future inspired attractions do. That's why refurbs happen. It just needs someone to pay for them. Sadly the Epcot model doesn't like paying mega bucks if there isn't a sponsor.

I don't understand how anyone could think that WoL would have been the biggest draw. In it's last few years, and that's what counts, it was almost empty. Same thing at Horizons and the current Imagination. Seas is close to the same thing now, but unless they hold the largest fish fry ever, how are they going to close that up? And all that salt water? There was a time when Living with the Land ride was a huge queue, now not so much but Soarin keeps that building open. Times and tastes change, not always for the better. Imagination has been a waste for years now. If they close everything they might just as well change the whole Future World into one huge bar, because that will be the only thing anyone would be interested in going too. In the back, that place that used to be known as World Showcase, is now a haven for drunks and obnoxious people. I suppose they could start playing CAJUN & ZYDECO music and make it New Orleans East.

I miss veggie veggie fruit fruit. :)
I do too! I loved that one!

Veggie wasn't at WoL, even though it was about healthy nutrition. (Back when Disney could mention healthy eating habits without being subjected to a smear campaign by Big Food). Veggie was part of the Kitchen Kabaret, in The Land.

The Land has never had a problem finding sponsorship. Therefore the pavilion has been continually updated. Kitchen Kabaret was replaced by Food Rocks in the nineties, which was in turn replaced in the naughties by Soarin'. The same upgrades could, arguably should, have happened to WoL, the pavilion most closely related to The Land.

Everything you mention is connected. FW once drew an audience of interested middle class. We'd visit FW nearly all day long, be inspired, delighted that maybe the children had learned something or at least had become inspired to do so. Then we'd stroll through WS.

Nowadays, you have a horde who fastpasses two thrill rides then visits a dusty Imax cinema without a floor under your seat for a five minute California commercial. Then its off to Princess and Alcoholics Land for the family entertainment of mommy and daddy getting drunk while the kids are entertained by toons and celebs.

Different audiences for different parks.

I prefer the Soarin' queue that destroyed the Food Rocks/ Kitchen Cabaret theatre a ton more. Who doesn't love swaying around trying to fly a plane/get balls into holes etc, against the middle of the queue who have just about had enough of the game, and the front of the queue who have all lost the will to live?

Excellent observations there....and all too true, sadly.

I'll give you three guesses why WoL was the one that was axed.

One.

Two.

Three.

What country will World Showcase add next? MARLBORO COUNTRY!

Yeah....Wonders of Life stood little chance against the Girth of the Nation.

EDIT -- Look, I don't want to be overly mean or cruel....I do realize that some people are overweight. I myself am one of them (6'2, 260lbs. Ideally I should be about 210-220 according to my doctor)

But my god when a person gets to the point where they can either not put their arms down by their side or have given up the use of their legs altogether, I don't have any sympathy.

EDIT II -- Which reminds me. I'm going to go have some raw kale, spinach, tomato, and cucumbers for dinner with just a bit of olive oil and vinegar. Who's with me?

Compared to the others, I can see why Disney would close up WOL. Seeing as how Cranium Command is mostly still intact, I would love to see the whole pavilion upgraded to something even better. If only they could move the F&G festival, then maybe it would work..

They could....just put it in the Millennium Village building.
