Our Trip Report

Hello all!!!! Just got back from 9 wonderful days at WDW. We left Hartford on Friday, September 28th. The flight down was fine and almost completely full. Security at the airport was tighter (National Guard & Police), but everything moved very quickly.
Arrived Friday night and spent one night at a Motel 6 (BIG MISTAKE!!!!)
Saturday moved onto Animal Kingdom Lodge. What a fantastic resort, although there are a few minor things that should be looked at.
I won't go into a day by day report, but any questions are appreciated. Crowds were light except for MK on the weekends.
We booked a package Discovery Magic -- and if you like to eat or be on the go -- it is a great deal. We were able to see Cirque du Soliel and the Keys to the Kingdom Tour on the package.
Crowds at the Orlando Airport on Sunday were horrendous. The lines did move but it took 45 min to an hour for check in and security clearance.
All in all it was a fantastic time, but the highlight had to be meeting the famous Markymark.

Thanks for the report, however...doesn't look like much has changed since the couple weeks since we left.

The Discovery Magic package includes your resort loding, tickets to the park and a Magical Wishes. You receive two wishes per person for each night you stay. The wishes can then be used for a variety of things. You can take various tours of the parks, rent watercraft, see Cirque de Soliel. However, the best feature is the dining option. One wish gets you a complete dinner at any restaurant on property except at Victoria & Albert's, California Grill, Fultons and Flying Fish Cafe. By complete dinner I mean appetizer, soup or salad, entree, desert and two non-acholic beverages. We ate at Portobello's and both had Lobster Tail (the bill was well over $100), but for two wishes it was free. We had to try very hard to use all are wishes before we left.

Our main concerns about AKL are minor. The bus loading area is a fairly long walk from the lobby, rough after a day walking in the parks. The other concern is that you have to walk outside in order to get to the quick dining area, for snacks and sodas.

One thing I forgot to mention, the new bus system is really bad. We waited 45 minutes for a bus to go from Epcot to AKL. To Disney's credit, after complaining we received a phone call and were given one free private ride from Epcot back to AKL.

Meeting Markymark and his wife Pam was great. They are both very sweet people. We spent the night at the Adventurer's Club at PI and had a great time.

The cost depends on length of stay and resort. We payed $4100 for 8 nights AKL Savannah View Room. Yes there is a children's package available. I would recommend this package only if you have been to WDW before and want to relax and take the tours and eat at the restaurants. If you spend all your time in the parks, it is not so good.

I actually did the math today and the difference between Discovery Magic and the basic package called Resort Magic worked out to be about $960.00. This works out to $30.00 dollars per Magical Wish. If you use them to eat at the restaurants they are a great deal.
