Trip Report Our Slightly Crazy All For Our Dear Lil’ Emy One Day MK “Worldwind” Trip...!!!!!

I’ve never done a formal TR here, as I generally tend to hang in the Chit Chat Chit Chat thread and do “mini TRs” of our travels (mostly non-Disney) there.
But, I felt (at least to me anyhoo ;)) this silly-fun trip merited a more “proper” TR...!!! :)

Warning, as this first post will be text-heavy...

Background:
Oldest DD called me on a Friday afternoon in mid August and asked...
“Hey dad, ya’ wanna’ go to Disney World for a day?!” My reply... “Seriously?!!!” (We live in Austin, Texas). But, DD had found some crazy-inexpensive airfare on JetBlue.
I was all up for it, of course, as we did many spur-of-the-moment road trips with our kiddos when they were younger, but, nothin’ on the scale of this “air trip”... oldest DD was kickin’ it up a notch...or two...or more...!!!!! :hilarious:
The original plan was for all 7 of us to go...
Oldest DD, SonIL, granddaughter (Emory - “Emy” in the title), DWifey, DS, youngest DD, and myself.
Unfortunately, I was the only other family member (besides the first 3 mentioned) that could make it schedule-wise.
The original trip date was scheduled for 9/3, but good ol’ Dorian jacked that up flight-wise...!!!!!:bored::hilarious:;):)
No worries, as we had a family cruise (not Disney ;)) that we were all able to make from 10/5-10/12, and we simply rescheduled the “Worldwind” trip for 10/29...!!! :)
It was a beyond amazing quick trip...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
But, even though it was such a short trip, I still have a ton of pics and videos I need to go through...seems like more than if it would have actually been a week-long trip...!!!!! :hilarious:

OK, a quick intro to us 24 hour-ish turnaround, half-ish away across the country, WDW trip silly geese...!!! :D;):)

SonIL (Daniel), Oldest DD (Megan), Granddaughter (Emory - “Emy”), and my ol’ darn self (Steve - “Pappy”)...!!! :)

That pic was taken as we were were exiting the park, and Emy looks a bit tuckered, but, I assure y’all she had a most amazingly Magical first WDW visit...!!!!!!!

OK gang, on that note I’m out for now, but, I’ll try to keep this TR updated on a timely basis...after all it was only one day...but, boy howdy, it was one incredibly AWESOME Magical day...!!!!!!! :joyfull::inlove::happy:

PART 9 - “IT’S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW!”...!!!

Gonna’ try not to get too text-heavy here, but, I feel this post needs some background...
I’m a lifelong Disney fan. My first visit to Disneyland was in 1968 at age 6. I still have vivid memories of that first visit (we lived in No Cal from ‘68-‘76) including PotC, IaSW, etc., and even a coupla’ now long-extinct attractions...”Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland”, and “Adventure Thru Inner Space”.
Along with watchin’ “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color”/“The Wonderful World of Disney”, and seein’ first and second run Disney movies with my family at drive-ins...!!!!!
I also visited Disneyland in ‘70, ‘72, ‘87, and ‘10.
My first visit to WDW was in 1988 on mine and DWifey’s honeymoon...!!!!!!! :inlove::happy:
Fast forward to July of 2001 for our first WDW family trip (youngest DD was 6, DS was 8, and oldest DD had her 10th birthday while we were there...!!!!! 🎂😊
We were in Tomorrowland at one point in the afternoon. We’d done a whole bunch of attractions in all of MK already, but, didn’t quite feel like leavin’ just yet. DWifey saw the CoP sign and asked me what it was...I had not a clue...I know.....;)

3296CE7C-5FFE-48C8-8A48-6E9D3D81E08D.png

All of us, including our then 6-year-old youngest DD absolutely LOVED CoP, and it remains one of our all-time FAVORITE Disney attractions. A complete and total tribute to Walt Disney and all of his fellow pioneers in the Disney-inspired entertainment industry. We can complain all day long, and I do my share, but, If it were not for him and his handpicked, trusted original colleagues, none of this Magic would exist as worldwide as it still does to this day...!!!!!!!
Anyhoo, I don’t have a lot of pics of it, but, Emy was definitely enthralled by CoP...!!!!!!!

And yes, a bit of a runnin’ joke here in some places on this site the table cloth is still crooked...!!!!! :hilarious:

And, our dear lil’ Emy enjoyin’ Walt’s vision from all those years ago...she was genuinely enthralled...!!!!!!!!!!! :inlove::happy:

I’m just still so beyond happy that we pulled this “Worldwind” trip off...!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:

Emy in COP -- I love that! :D

So happy your family had a great whirlwind trip to MK -- so many fun photos and memories.

Remember, it's not the quantity of time, it's the QUALITY of time!!! :inlove: :inlove:

Thank you so very much, Minnie...!!!!!
It indeed was a crazy-quick trip, but, the memories are irreplaceable, and it was well beyond worth it...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::inlove::inlove::inlove::happy:

Some people may question bringing a baby to Disney. They would say negative things like you are wasting your money, they won't remember, etc. Look at that little face in these pictures. She is obviously enthralled and taking it all in. She will have those memories stored in her memory banks somewhere. Just because she won't be able to verbalize about the trip doesn't mean it wasn't worth it and that she got nothing out of it. The pictures prove otherwise.

100% agree...!!!!!
I’ve pretty much always been of the mindset that if you can afford a family trip every year, then, of course, start takin’ ‘em along right away. But, if you can only afford a trip (or just wanna’ travel other places) every few years or so, wait until they’re old enough to remember it. As I posted earlier, youngest DD (Sarah) was 6, DS (Matthew) was 8, and oldest DD (Megan) turned 10 while we were on our first WDW family trip in July of ‘01. However, my mindset has been changing over time, and especially after this wonderful trip...get the kiddos there as early and often as you can...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Even if it’s just a quick trip...Emy flew for free, her WDW admission was free, and the memories are priceless...!!!!! :inlove::happy:

Emy’s earlier nap recharged her to where she didn’t fall asleep again until the flight home that night...!!! :)
She seemed to really enjoy all the sights from the people mover too, and it’s also another of our favorites...!!!!!

Me, too. It's one those original future world dreams models (as in dreams for me), that I have in my mind, from back in the 80s. There was just something a lot more magic about some of those earlier models.

Yep, still always a joy to see...!!! :)
I just wish the whole original model was on display somewhere at WDW.
But, they woulda' needed a LOT more space for it, as it was pretty huge. The portion inside the blue line in the pic below is what's currently viewable from theTTA/Peoplemover...

PART 11: “TO INFINITY, AND BEYOND!”...!!!

OK, so I don’t have pics of this attraction to infinity and beyond (less than most from this trip, in fact ;)), and although it was yet another walk-on, it felt more like a “rush-on” with how fast a bunch of Guests behind us were movin’...!!!!! :hilarious:
In retrospect, we probably shoulda’ just stepped aside and let em pass us by, but, we still had some other things we were tryin’ to squeeze in before they booted our beeeeehinds outta’ the Park for MNSSHP...!!! ;)

A blurry pic of Emy and Megan in the queue...!!!!! :cyclops:;)

My blaster was shootin to the right of center, so the further away the target was, the larger aiming correction I had to make. I figured it out about 30 secs. into the ride. I’ve heard of blasters not workin’ before, but, not the beam bein’ off this far...!!!!! 🤪😉
Anyhoo, my score was pretty low, but, I’m never really good on this attraction anyway, and much better on TSMM.
But, it was still as fun as always, though...!!!!!:)

I can’t remember exactly what this score merited, but, I think it was somethin’ like “Don’t even think about applying to the Space Ranger Academy”...!!!!! :hilarious::D;):)

PART 12: WE GO UNDER THE SEA, AND THEN BACK UP ON LAND...!!!

Under the Sea was our last FP for the day, and yet another walk-on...!!! :)
I can never seem to get good pics on this attraction...a few acceptable ones, but, never really good...:cyclops:
But, then again, they’re all iPhone pics...not a DLSR, or DRLS, or DLR, or whatever it is...!!! :D;)
Does anyone else here remember the days when a phone not only didn’t take pictures, all it did was sit on a desk, counter, etc., and all you could do with it was only make phone calls by rotary dialing...?!!!!! :eek:o_O:hilarious:

Anyhoo, Under the Sea we go...!!!!!!!:joyfull:;)

However, we did catch a bit of the MnG on the way back out which we and Emy enjoyed...!!!!!

You forgot to mention how careful you had to be dialing a rotary phone too ... when the finger slips a bit dialing a 9 or a 0 and you had to hang up and start all over again 🤣.

I remember a very old phone that my grandmother had, and it was so worn out, that the rotary dial numbers were "off" (didn't line up accurately with the numbers underneath). So it was a fun guessing game . . . is this a 1 or a 2 that I just tried to dial?! :hilarious: (And heaven forbid she ever get a new phone -- "wasteful" she said! I think she was also the last person on the planet to convert to touch tone -- I think the phone company told her she had to finally do that.) :p

Oh my goodness! Look at Emy's sweet face at Under the Sea! :joyfull:
I can tell Pooh and Tigger got her attention too!

* I remember those phones too! 🤫😄

Awww, thank you...!!! :)
Wish we had time to do the MnG, but, as you can imagine, the wait looked pretty long for that, too...!

Glad I'm not the only one here who remembers those ol' phones...!!! ;):)
